Welcome to DRR Podcast 078, This week we welcome back the very first podcast guest. This time under his own name rather than the Afrozoid project under which he guested last time, from São Paulo, Brazil: Phabian.

Phabian has been a DJ since 1996 and also responsible for the Válvula Records label since 2009 along with his brother Rafael Lopez. Both are part of the Afrozoid duo that started production in 2013.

The duo released their first vinyl EP called Flickering on Válvula Records itself. Afrozoid was released on some of the major labels such as: Counter Pulse, Translucent, Acid Worx, Epione Records, Techno Vinyls, among others.

✈ We are delighted to welcome Indian djs and producers AUDIO UNITS (Dynamic Reflection, Blackaxon).

The Units are brothers Ashwin and Ashrith who spend their time together visiting the deepest realms of techno huddled over their machines and drawing inspiration from science fiction, spatial geometry, architecture, and nature. Their obsession with electronic sounds goes back to the noise of ’80s video games and early introduction to computer programming.  
 
Across their discography, their artistic voice is both consistent and sublime, showcasing a unique perspective and technique. With a distinct sound as producers, Audio Units successfully capture and transfer it into their work as DJs. Their performances irradiate with cosmic warmth made possible by a deft, highly technical mixing style taking their audience on a voyage at light speed as a result of an entire lifetime dedicated to electronic music and a deep love of the machines that make it.
Beyond their artistry lies a boundless commitment to Beatworx, Afterworx, and Observant. As the founders of an electronic music school, nightlife agency, and record label, they provide a platform for aspirants to discover and sustain artistic endeavours in the electronic music ecosystem.

Jay Clarke’s remix project 'Riders of the Storm’ comes to a close with his 4th and final instalment featuring his infamous track ‘Jet Stream’. The track was featured on Joseph Capriati’s Essential Mix back in 2017 but never found the right home…. until now. 

The project was opened up to all production levels with the idea to give lesser experienced artists a chance to remix one of four unreleased tracks.

Jay has carefully selected his favourite remixes, which will now be presented on the label and covers the spectrum of Techno from deep atmospheric interpretations to hard-as-nails bangers.

Lindsey Herbert has continued to drift towards the darker realms of techno, constantly honing her craft as a DJ and getting involved with the thriving scene in San Francisco. Fast-forward to 2017 and Lindsey has truly become a recognized name in her city and beyond, in large part thanks to her unique signature sets — true journeys that explore alternating soundscapes laced together by dark, deep and heavy textures, spatial melodies and relentless, gritty undertones.

Welcome to DRR Podcast 102, this week we are pleased to present Dorbachov,

Dorbachov is Damien O’Reilly, a London based Techno DJ and Producer from Northern Ireland.  Damien’s musical journey began from listening to hardcore and techno cassette tapes in the Northern Irish countryside throughout the 90s, to becoming a regular across Ulster’s quickly emerging rave scene.  Bitten by the bug, Damien knew he needed to be on the other side of the DJ booth - ‘Dorbachov’ was born. 
 
Several bookings followed and, with his ‘90s influence clearly evident in his sets, it wasn’t long before he was offered a residency at the Dublin hotspot ‘So Loco’.  

After a move to London, Dorbachov changed his focus and direction to the studio.  Heavily immersing himself into production, he realised his true potential in formulating clever and energetic live sets.  His vocational background was electrical engineering and this is clearly evident in his industrial and calculated sound that would not be a stranger in the clubs of Berlin. 
 
Dorbachov’s next move was to present his releases to a wider audience.  His debut track releasing on the rising label ‘Haute’ in 2012.  Several further releases followed on favoured labels such as Clutch Trax, Renesanz, Terminus Audio, and Gobsmacked.
 
In 2015 Dorbachov set up ‘Carbyne Records’ and released his own album ‘Free State Propaganda’ on the imprint with solid reviews including an interview in Ireland’s ’Hot Press’ magazine.
 
It was in 2016 that Dorbachov moved into the niche area of Live Modular sets.  He took these sets and effortlessly formulated them into tracks which were quickly picked up by several reputable labels including Distrackt, Wunderblock, UKR Special series, and Room 2.  Dorbachov’s talents in the studio have also spread into publishing with a remix for Channel 4’s acclaimed cult-series ‘Utopia’. 

Dorbachov has made a steady return to playing out, with both his Live Hardware and DJ sets of engaging, intelligent heavyweight techno gaining popularity, with bookings across the UK including North London techno institution ‘The Cause’. 

In 2019 Damien launched his ‘Carbyne Live Transmissions’ Radio Show.  This has given him an outlet to showcase not only his own talent and personality, but an opportunity to showcase the talents of guests from around the world. 
 
 
It has been a real show of restraint and maturity to enter the industry in the route that he has.  Letting his music speak foremost, it is this that has rightly opened the door.  With an ever busy release schedule, it is guaranteed to be another huge year for Dorbachov.
