This week on the RIPEcast an OG if there ever was one, Space Cowboys' 8Ball is on the decks live from the 25th edition of Breakfast of Champions. 

From @dj8ball, "25th Breakfast of Champions, and I’ve played 23 of them! I’d say “I’m too old for this shit” but the party’s still going and it’s still the best way to kick off the New Year in SF—hands freakin’ down!   

About the mix: I brought a mix of new and old favs, and like last year I decided to pack the middle with drum n bass to keep folks steppin. Most of the tracks were re-edited and I’ve been enjoying tinkering with stems lately, so that’s where some of the acapellas come into play. There’s also a quick tribute to breakbeat originator, Lennie Le Ice and his groundbreaking track “We Are E.I.”—I’ll work the whole thing into another set down the road, but for now it’s in the breakdown for “Feel It”.

A.Skillz - Live from the Waverley

So after an amazing week in Baku Azerbaijan I decided to dedicate that week at the Redbull 3style World Mixing finals with a Podcast. It was the perfect opportunity to work on something that was very inspiring. This mix showcases all my varied styles of music I like to encompass in a Krafty set, in the typical style of the Redbull competition. Utilising 3 styles of music in my case a lot more which gave me the opportunity to dig deep, pull out some funky tunes, blend, scratch and mix a heap of Kraftyness. Being a judge at this event, spending time with the likes of Jazzy Jeff, Skratch Bastid, D-Styles, Q_bert & Shortkut Z Trip, & more I came away feeling blessed & inspired by all of these incredible artists. Big shout to the organiser Kenny Macintrye from Redbull  and everyone  involved for helping me become a better DJ and witness some of the true masters at there craft.

So it recently dawned on me that this year marks 10 years since I had my first support gig at Ambar back in 2006 playing before Dopamine – 10 bloody years!!
Since then music has taken me all over Australia and overseas and allowed me to connect with people all over the world that would have never been possible had it not been for our mutual interest in music.
So I think it’s about time I did a mix paying tribute to that awesome time in my life – the gigs/parties/after parties/boat parties and festivals.
Flashing back to 2004 – 2006 I couldn’t get away without paying respect to Kid Kenobi who single handedly got me and most of the people I know into Djing at the time. 
I learnt to mix by listening to his breaks mixes on repeat. 
So this mix is as much a tribute to him as it is to the talented artists included in it.

Mix of the Day: Stanton Warriors X Plump DJs - Live at Arcadia Spectacular(Glastonbury 2016)

With the recent closure of Fabric Nightclub the launching pad for many an artist i thought it was only fitting to post up this mix from local residents the Stanton Warriors from way back in 2006. Today I crafted this pretty 'n gritty downtempo journey of blues and bass meets Folktronic Americana: Music meandering like the Mississippi and swampy like the bayou,  this grimy grip of downtempo speaks from a snatch of six-string, a chatter of banjos, lonesome  voices and pondering bass lines...

In the beginning, there was the Dr's of Rhythm, and the Dr's of Rhythm had a groove.

And from this groove came the groove of all grooves.

And while one day viciously throwing down on their turntables, the Dr's of Rhythm boldy declared,

"Let there be HOUSE!"
"Let there be DEEP HOUSE!"
"Let there be ACID JAZZ!!"
"Let there be NU JAZZ!"
"Let there be NU SKOOL!"
"Let there be OLD SCHOOL!"
"Let there be WORLD BEAT!"
"Let there be BREAKBEAT!"

and Our Style was born...

"We are, you see,

We are the creators, and this is our Style!

And, in our Style there are many Styles of music.

But, we are not so selfish because once you enter our house it then becomes OUR house and OUR house music!"

And, you see, no one man or woman owns house because house music is a universal language, spoken and understood by all.

You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house.

House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body.

And, as I told you before, this is our house and our house music.

And in every house, you understand, there is a keeper.

And, in this house, the keepers are the Dr's of Rhythm.

Now some of you who might wonder,

"Who are the Dr's of Rhythm, and what is it that the Dr's of Rhythm do?"

The Dr's of Rhythm are the ones who give you the power to jack your body.

The Dr's of Rhythm are the ones who give you the power to do the snake.

The Dr's of Rhythm are the ones who give you the key to the wiggly worm.

The Dr's of Rhythm are the ones who taught you how to walk your body.

The Dr's of Rhythm are the ones that can bring nations and nations of all groovers together under one house.
