After the success of the first A-sides compilation in 2012, Adam Beyer has decided its time to release another. With Adam's stature steadily growing as one of the leading talents in the Techno scene and the rise of Drumcode, the standard of demo's that have been sent to Adam have been top notch. Adam has now decided to release two compilations with 10 tracks on each, both consisting of tracks that Adam has tried and tested. There are also new artists that have been invited to release on Drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in Drumcode's core family. Combining both old and new talents Drumcode have come up with something unique and distinctive to make this two-part compilation something extra special.

The first single to be taken from Slam’s truly astounding upcoming album ‘Reverse Proceed’ sees the hypnotic Pattern A3 alongside some of Techno’s biggest and brightest new stars adding their own versions also.

Slam have chosen one of the major standout tracks from Reverse Proceed to set the tone prior to the album’s full release in late October. With the album built around the concept of varying sequences, it’s fitting that the first single be given such an apt name. Taken directly form the Cirklon sequencer pattern that helped design the track Pattern A3 features heavily modulating synths that seems to have a fully organic life of their own set against the typical backdrop of 909 drums. 

Following on from Slam’s original, Soma have enlisted the help of 3 of the label’s favourite contemporary Techno artists. Argentina’s Jonas Kopp is first up on remix duties and deliver an absolute pile-driver of a remix with his signature thudding drums and machine-gun like percussion firing rapidly against subtle and stripped synth elements.
 
Swedish based Bleak is a very welcome addition to this package as he offers his own ‘Modular Interpretation’. Heavy sub bass and intelligent drum work outs combine with yet more subtle hints of the original’s synth elements to give a more deep and introspective version. 

Rounding off the EP is latest Soma artist Charles Fenckler. The young French artist is making waves in Techno at the moment and has certainly delivered on this project, giving his version a much more minimalistic, stripped and ends up with a solid dance floor burner.

It seems like waiting for a new Pan-Pot EP is a yearly occurrence, considering the duo’s heavy, globe trotting tour schedule, so to have a follow up from them just four months after their recent ‘Funke’ EP is a grandiose surprise to say the least. Over the span of five flawlessly executed tracks, Pan-Pot deliver a swarm of dance floor destructors of unforgettable moments for the 50th release of their 'Second State' label. With a focus on the timeless aesthetic of “less is more” the duo craft their newest EP focusing only on the essential elements needed to create maximum impact.
Kicking things off is the warehouse-ready EP ‘Weltlinie’ where an impeccable equilibrium of abrasive percussion and warm pads forge themselves into a timeless cut suitable for tonight, tomorrow or twenty years from now. Switching gears, ‘Startphase’ sees Pan-Pot at their most recognizable as they deliver a rapid fire tune where a massive sonic barrage of one repetitive sound creates a hypnotic ride into euphoric territories. Quite possibly their simplest track of the EP, ‘Exzentrisch’ follows their minimalist approach as one pattern is played by nearly all the elements, constantly deviating which sound takes center stage, resulting in a monotonous, yet always interesting composition that is sure to boost the energy level of any size room to unfathomable heights. Nearly rounding out the EP is ‘Zeit’ where rapid fire percussion and pitch shifting cymbals set the stage for a wicked lead melody that slowly becomes engulfed by hefty sonic bursts creating the perfect melodic balance for a big room tune. Wrapping up the EP is ‘Freigeist’, and with a nod to their early Perlon influences the two churn out a killer 15 minute journey of organic drums and lush atmospheres ideal for open airs and after-hours.

Contained within this eleven-track compilation is a collection of tracks submitted to Drumcode as demos but which didn’t have other tracks to be partnered with to make up a classical Drumcode EP. Such was the quality and quantity of these stunning one-off tracks that the idea of making them into a compilation was born primarily for practical reasons. As the project grew the idea became a theme and the theme evolved into a finished project – A-Sides - which tells both the story of Drumcode’s recent past with familiarly high-octane tracks from Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Joseph Capriati, Gary Beck, Gregor Tresher and Dustin Zahn & Rachel Palmer but also gives a glance into what is to come as the likes of Patrick Siech, Luigi Madonna, Roberto Capuano, Dhillon and Manic Brothers get their chance to contribute to the shaping Drumcode’s future.

Not only is this a way to showcase the best performing tracks on these albums, but it also gives a chance for the artists on these 'Rockets' VA's to support and remix each other!
