Electronic dance music and beyond
Nuno Costa began his ventures into electronic music in 2008 with his Sinner moniker, and with it he created Warface, a local crew and promoter focused on dubstep, drum ’n’ bass, and UK garage.

In 2013 he kickstarted his new project, VIL, focusing mainly on techno, electro, breaks, and house music. His debut EP came in early 2015, when Portuguese label Extended Records picked him up for a release. Soon after, he released on Lewis Fautzi’s “Faut Section” imprint and on the legendary Synewave New York, run by Damon Wild.

VIL’s refined taste and set building ability has already earned him a place at some of the best clubs in the country, of which Lux Frágil and Gare are included, and is a regular presence at many of the country’s festivals as well. Fast forward to 2018, where alongside Portuguese artists Temudo and menosdois, he creates Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Already counting four vinyl releases since its inception and garnering support by some of the biggest name in the scene, Hayes turns out to be one the most promising labels to rise during the pandemic.

Furthermore VIL used the extended time in the studio between 2020 and 2021 to place his output on renowned labels outside of his own realm. Landing highly anticipated EPs both on Ben Klock’s seminal label Klockworks and Stranger’s Self Reflektion further bolsters his studio proficiency.

Tronic Podcast 575 with Hertz

Strongly shaped by the raw and forward-leaning sound of 90’s Techno, Milan based artist Alarico Zucchi started his journey into electronic music in 2015 making his way through clubs as a DJ while learning the art of music production. 

The inauguration of ‘Alarico’ occurred in 2019 after previously exploring several sub-genres of Techno. The alias was formed as a statement to showcase a style that was personal to him. Personal in a way that he became captivated within the patterns and structures of his own sound. So-much-so that his multiple our long podcasts solely consisting of his own material made him stand out from a whole host of young and promising producers and DJs. 

Known for fast paced rhythms and kinky grooves he has released music consistently since his debut in 2020 on Joton’s imprint “Newrhytmic Records”. Shortly after he launched his own vinyl imprint “Katana Records”, which showcases the more mental and introverted side of his idea of Techno. He certainly cemented his rank in today’s Techno landscape through releases on Matrixxman’s highly acclaimed “The Grid”, Token Records and sees a bright future with a forthcoming release on SHDW & Obscure Shape’s newest endeavour “Mutual Rytm”. 

Alarico continues to position himself as a unique music lover, exploring the depths and possibilities of sound. He stands for permanently pushing boundaries and stirring this attitude with his background of Hip Hop and Japanese culture.

Co-head of SYXT and Glukkon Records, Romania-born artist Ketch steps in the series with two hours of full-fledged big-room-oriented dynamics. Combining the dark and brute side of steely industrial music with that of more deep-minded electronics, halfway dub immersion and further left-field acid eccentricities, Ketch ploughs his own furrow aside from techno's main drag, somewhere at the junction of raw brutalism and tribal-inherited transcendence. Just like his own tracks, the Italy-based producer’s mixes lay down a complex, near-labyrinthine mindset, not quite choosing its side between hands-on floor destruction and eruptive mass communion. Hear hear, it’s the sound of your soul fanning out.

4Th Chapter, artist from Madrid involved in the Techno scene for a decade. INMATERIAL AUDIO label founder, a new concept of label created in Spain in 2011, devoted entirely to the most cutting edge sounds and Techno innovator, fusing other subgenres as Off Beat, Experimental and Dub.

International artists of great positioning and great experience in the scene are the creators of artistic and musical project. INMATERIAL AUDIO has received support from artists such as Dave Clarke, Paula Cazenave, Xhin, Pfirter, Inigo Kennedy, Joseph Capiatri, Markantonio, Spektre, Logotech, Sasha Carassi, Krezlin, Audioinjection, Sam Paganini, Marcus Schulz, Psyk, MIDI among others, who occasionally punctured tracks from the label in their dj sets.

4Th Chapter has produced for several national labels in admissions, and has received support from artists such as Richie Hawtin and others. Besides creating music, has passed through the cabins and most emblematic events of Madrid, as Fabrik, Klubbers Day, Macumba, among others ... He is also a member of Fanatik Sound, spent with his teammates Jose Tejeda and Dr. Nute in the promotion and creation of cutting-edge events in Madrid, having brought to them as artists as Psyk, Alex Under, Hans Bouffmyhre, Alberto Pascual, Expansul..

Here's the recording of my live techno set from Saturday night at Freerotation Festival 2016. Thanks to Steevio & Suzybee, the whole crew and everyone who was there.
This is a totally improvised hardware live performance. Nothing is prepared beforehand.

Spektre are back on home turf once again, with a sinister two-tracker.

'Carnival Of Souls' sets the scene with the relentless bang of their trademark heavy kick drum. Opening with a dark and eerie atmosphere that appropriately matches the title, the lead synths develop into uplifting euphoria, as the tracks mood transforms in the breakdown.

Second of the two original tracks 'Land Of Strays' has a building tension with fluttering synths. The powerful vocal also lifts the track and provides great contrast with the growling tones of the ominous bassline. Undeniably a peak time cut of dancefloor focused techno, this is a spark to light anyone's fire.

Track three is SAMA's remix of 'Carnival Of Souls' which is a refined version of the original with the addition of his own grinding bass stabs and thinned kick drum to allow more focus on the synth parts. Keeping all of the originals energy, it has all of the same charm but with added depth for those who like things a touch deeper.

Finishing the EP is D-Unity's remix of 'Land Of Strays' and stripping away many of the originals synths it's a percussion lead alternate version. Using the vocal and only short bursts of synths, this darker version has more ferocity to it, and will no doubt be a favourite with those who play a harder style of techno.
