Berlin based and immersed into the queer techno scene for years, Radical Softness’s project name comes from the movement with the same name, which advocates the open disclosure of all forms of emotions, whether positive or negative. They are similarly activist and try to share it with her music. Their storytelling sets combine uplifting tracks, fast paced, and raw punchy oldschool rhythms while often surprising the crowd.

POSSESSION PODCAST #230 - RADICAL SOFTNESS

Probably one of the most emotional raves we have ever been involved in - Sunflowerfest was turbulent to say the least but also one of the most rewarding experiences we have had!

[TLDR: Sunflowerfest was class but also serious amount of work fighting through the storm to make the stage happen]

Long version: Our whole crew was massively invested in Sunflowerfest this year - having spent almost 2 weeks on pre-build: painting gremlins, putting over 50 lights into the trees, we had even hired lighting just for our takeover out of our own money. We'd spent time building our mirrored installation, decorating the full site and programming a full DSNT 6 hour takeover through one of the warmest longest heatwaves Ireland has ever had. 

We had loads of the DSNT Gang up volunteering, working to earn their tickets so that they could come join us for a big forest rave, everything was going great until one of the heaviest storms ever hit the festival 5 minutes before our stage was supposed to start. If Ian didn't have to tweek the CDJs they would have been rained out.

Torrential floods hit the festival, the main stage was rained out and non-operational, we were fighting a losing battle trying to bring our stage back to life. After putting so much work into the festival our whole crew was completely heart broken but we weren't prepared to give up even after we had been told 3 times that it wasn't going to happen.

We drilled any boards of wood we could find to the stage, we did 3 runs to screwfix to buy tarp to protect the stage, we went through 7 rolls of blue roll drying the entire show, had to climb on top of the roof during the peak of the storm and literally build another roof on top of the room. By 7pm we got the stage up and running. 

In the recording you hear so many people cheer as they take solace in the fact that the only music available is no longer kill yourself rock bands and they have a bit of DOOF to salvage the weekend. 

We're super grateful to everyone that smashed it bringing this show to life but an honourable mention goes to Hossy D, Aaron Cleary, Ian Hart, Chris Hannah, Craig Downes, Turlo, Jamie Lee LSD, Danny, Nuala & Kyle and big love to Will Softly who risked his Funktion-1 in trusting in our passion and love to create something sick.

Also production wise there are lots of great things to be released from her in the next time - for instance one track for our upcoming second Ismus VA compilation.
