Duellum

Named after a poem by Charles Baudelaire, these four frenchmen, former-londoners, only compose bouncy and addictive tunes.

After their first 5-songs EP « For Some Reasons I Want To Talk » was released in December 2011, they have been pacing many prestigious venues in Paris (Solidays festival, Grande Halle de la Vilette, Bus Palladium, Petit Bain, Batofar, 114), London (Proud Camden, Queen of Hoxton…) and were aired by Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6.

Their second EP, Drift, was released on february 25th 2013. With this new release, Duellum is drifting from a very enthousiastic indie-rock to much more bouncy electronic sounds. Drift is the meeting point between european indie-pop (Wild Beasts, Foals, Casiokids, the Whitest Boy Alive, Errors), unexpected roots such as African world music (Ali Farka Touré,Salif Keita Toumani Diabaté, Ballake Sissoko) or contemporary minimalism (Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman). 

The refreshing pineapple featured on the cover refers to the atmosphere in which the band composed this EP, but is also a first clue of the sunny and invigorating feelings we get from the first listening. Fancy a trip to the tropics ?

Pioneers of the 90s Parisian rave scene Jerry Bouthier and his late brother Tom, were initially inspired by the groundbreaking musical eclecticism of Manchester’s Haçienda, Ibiza’s Amnesia and London’s Boys Own. 
Over the years Jerry has kept embracing electronic and dancefloor evolutions with always an open mind and more often than not indie-dance at its core .
After his residency at London’s infamous BoomBox club in the mid 00s, Jerry became Kitsuné's stalwart dj playing around the world for the record label that was soon to become a global clothing/lifestyle brand.

Also sound-designer and composer for fashion (Vivienne Westwood etc), he’s created soundtracks for the catwalks of London, Paris, Milan, NY etc and has deejayed at the parties of some of fashion’s biggest names.

Over the years he has produced solo and with a handful of collaborators under various monikers: Riviera Splash, Electrique Boutique, Silent Running, Alphabet… and not least JBAG, his long-running collaboration/project with Andrea Gorgerino 
He’s also A&R of his sporadic label Continental Records and music consultant/artistic director.
