DUEL NATIVE is the musical alias of Stephen Choi, a Half-Trinidadian, Half-Hong Kongese multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer based on Kaurna Country (Adelaide, Australia). Blurring the lines between folk-rock, dream pop, and British indie, DUEL NATIVE draws influence from Björk to Bob Marley and beyond. Since 2021, his discography evokes a kind of unique nostalgia that is both fresh and difficult to confine.

As Fruit Sonic describes it, “...a timeless quality that shows off DUEL NATIVE’s ability to bring old-school and nu-school styles into a singular whole.”

A product of the East and West, Choi was a founding member of the pop-punk band Greyhound Green, where he shared stages with The Libertines, The Maccabees, Alabama 3, and Tjinder Singh (Cornershop) - sometimes in a packed London basement, sometimes on MTV Europe.

Beyond crafting DUEL NATIVE’s songs of melancholy and hope, Choi is also a renowned architect and a leading voice in the environmental ecology of music.
