Recorded live at The Common on December 22, 2022. This set nearly didn't happen at all. My first flight was cancelled due to weather and only thanks to some helpful folks on a different airline did I make it on time. It ended up being one of my favourite sets of the year. Thanks to all the friends who came out and to my Night Vision family and the Common for hosting! 

The mix includes 3 brand new tracks and I've left in some of the crowd recording. There are some pretty funny moments that were captured. Thanks to everyone who supported me in 2022. I appreciate you!

Merry Christmas from everybody at MEOKO! It has been five years since we launched the podcast series and to celebrate, we will be releasing x5 special edition mixes from selected artists over the course of the next couple months starting with none other than Barac. After a long period of time at the top of his game, known for his intricate and high quality productions,on the likes of Pressure Traxx, Meander, and Midi Records. His intelligent and smooth sound is loved by many all over, whether moving the dancefloor in one of the best clubs in the world either mixing or one of his fantastic live sets, or it could be a lengthy journey on the beach in his native country Romania. There is something so special when this man enters the room with an ability to grasp the listener, allowing them to indulge in the variations of sound he has prepared. It is with our greatest pleasure, that we can offer you this tasty cut from Barac's set live from Robert Johnson, in Frankfurt, back in January 2016 for a Presure Traxx showcase. Famous for its intimate vibe, and incredible sound system, to nobody's suprise, Barac steps up to the occassion with low swung minimal grooves lifting the atmosphere, accompanied by his signature curious movements of abstract sounds adding to the story the Romanian is telling. Pressure Traxx are known for their ability to extend much further than what meets the eye, there is no 'same sound', and this is why the wizard we like call Barac fits the bill like no other. A steady motion in to the trip, whether listening in your house, walking to work, or driving in your car, you will be absorbed in to the sounds you are hearing gaining an insight to the tight knit intimacy of Robert Johnson, and what Barac had to offer on the night. Diynamic Music’s next release is „Mood Organs“ by Italian Musumeci. It’s his first full EP on the label after already contributing two remixes in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The EP title “Mood Organs” is inspired by a dystopian instrument from the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” called Penfield Mood Organ. In the novel it is used by future citizens to regulate their emotions by dialling in a specific number for the corresponding emotion.
Musumeci later realized “we already have this fantastic invention, we call it music. Out of all the possible ways of expressing yourself through art, music is the most capable of evoking emotions.”

Ryan Bishop is behind one of the most creative and consistent multi-modal musical platforms out there. Dream Chimney (which hardly needs introducing), was certainly a big inspiration for 5918mins. and we are very happy to have him onboard. 

DJing himself under the name "The Beat Broker", Ryan developed a propensity towards Balearic sounds, which seemed to fit perfectly with the current time of the year. We are also very impressed by Ryan's consistency in digging and playing high-quality newer releases (which only makes sense if one one is interested in the musical, rather than the collectable worth of records).

You know him from Studio Barnhus. He released his album on Axel Boman's label last year and a couple of hot tracks with longtime partner Mr. Tophat before that.

His first EP for Toy Tonics features 3 of the sweetest bangers he did till now. What a wonderful vibe! And the remix... Killer. By Stockholm’s amazing newcomers Mount Liberation Unlimited (who just released an EP on Permanent Vacation).

Art Alfie is busy these days: besides his involvement with Toy Tonics he started an own label (Velvet Pony). ​Even if you might know him mainly from the kick-ass dancefloor stuff he has been doing with Karlovak and the Studio Barnhus gang - there is some more complex background here: Alfie used to play in hardcore and psychedelic bands and has a real golden hand when it comes to work with musicians. In fact currently he is also producing some stuff for Swedish supergroup/hotshot band ‚Off The Meds‘!

Witchtape #31 | Guest Wizz : Mike Haddad

(Story continued from Witchtape #29)
On a beautiful October day, the little witch did her usual inspection round of the forest.  She was quite happy that the dark energy (which was still hanging in one small section of the forest) seemed to be dissolving much quicker than before since a group of badgers settled in the middle of that area.  She really loved these lively animals, who never seemed to get tired of their endless digging of tunnels and chambers and keeping their underground complex clean and tidy.  And the girl was really reassured as the tiny oak tree (which she planted a few months earlier and was destined to become a mother tree in a distant future) was growing safely right in the middle of the badger’s sett.  
When she approached the badgers’ territory, the guard badger saluted her and blew his whistle - which was the sign for all his clan members to converge around the witch.  The elder badger took the word and explained to the witch that despite their earlier promise not to dig under the newly-planted tree, his granddaughter got carried away and had by mistake dug a tunnel straight under the little tree (at that moment one of the badgers at the back row became red-faced and tried to hide herself behind one of her siblings).  Then the elder invited the young witch to have a look deep inside their sett.  That meant the girl had to make herself a lot smaller, but she did it with a smile (and with a spell).  And she entered the underground complex through one of the entrances, accompanied by the elder badger and his granddaughter.  Her eyes needed some time to adjust to the darkness, but once accustomed she soon found out that there were a lot of little roots hanging down from the ceiling, and that there was some dark liquid dripping out of these roots.  After igniting a floating little light, the little witch discovered to her horror that her white dress had become dirty from these dark drops (despite walking barefoot all the time, she is really fussy about her immaculately white clothes).  The animal explained that this is dark energy trickling into mother earth (where it will be neutralized) and that the badgers’ activities have accelerated this process manifold.  Then the hosts took the girl into a newly dug tunnel.  At one spot, the granddaughter pointed towards the ceiling.  Like everywhere else, there were roots hanging down but unlike all the rest, these were pink and not black.  And they were glowing softly.  The elder badger pointed out that these were the roots of the little oak tree which the witch had planted.  The girl had a closer look and she saw that also these roots were leaking drops of liquid, but these were crystal clear with a pinkish color.  One of the drops fell on the witch’s dress and she saw to her amazement how one dirty black spot got completely erased after getting in contact with this pinkish liquid.  Then she understood the healing force of this Mother-Tree-In-The-Making.  The little witch quickly retrieved a few more drops in a small glass flacon – which would become very useful when she washed her white dress later that day…

Dexter Crowe - When We Dip Radio #84 [5.11.18]

'There’s few that would argue Dee Montero’s star is firmly in the ascendancy. Infact, some might go as far as to suggest he’s heading straight for the stratosphere but no one can deny he’s already left an indelible mark on the electronic music scene.

In the last couple of years, the Northern Irishman has clocked up releases on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound, Nic Fanciulli’s Saved imprint, Dave Seaman’s Selador Recordings and most recently Solomun’s Diynamic label with the chart busting ’Halcyon’ - the latter topping the Beatport Deep House Chart. An impressive haul for a CV that’s starting to become a thing of envy.

Not that it’s been an overnight success. Far from it. Dee Montero cut his teeth at a residency at the Network Club in his hometown of Belfast after winning the Vestal Mixing Championships at the tender age of 17. He quickly followed that by landing himself a residency at Ibiza’s legendary Cafe Mambo on the San Antonio sunset strip. It was here that allowed him to hone his craft, his extended 8 hour sets gliding effortlessly between genres. From blissed out sunset grooves to tripped out Balearica to melodic House and Techno.

Since then he has travelled the world peddling his own particular brand of dance music. From Berlin to Bali to Burning Man, he’s left no stone unturned. He even found time for a stint DJing and promoting in Hong Kong where he’s widely credited for helping move the Underground club scene forward bringing in DJs such as Nina Kraviz, Joris Voorn and Greg Wilson for the first time.

It’s back here in 2017 though where Dee is riding high on the momentum of his best year to date. ‘Halcyon’ is shaping up to being one of the tunes of the summer and there are further releases planned on labels such as Stereo Productions and guest appearances throughout the summer at Ibiza’s newest club Hi. One thing is for sure though, for Dee Montero, the planets have aligned.'
