Capturing that magical sweet spot between day and night, sun and moon, dreams and reality, Italian groove maestro Amarcord makes his debut on Damon Jee’s Dust & Blood with ‘The Blue Hour Club’…

A vibrant flip on his last track ‘Spleen’ on Eskimo earlier this summer (a 105BPM alt-pop Kraftwerk homage), here we find Amarcord in much more uplifted, energetic yet still contemplative mood. Sitting somewhere between new romantic and synth wave, Amarcord creates the perfect bed for E.S.O’s heartfelt vocals as we creep closer and closer to sunrise.

Remix-wise Greek darksmith Echonomist twists the light to create great shadows amid E.S.O’s vocals before Amarcord lays down two more floor-focused originals. ‘Ritrovare Un Tempo’ makes time for everyone with its ploughman bassline and humanised vocals while Titoli Di Coda cashes in our last credits with smouldering, downtempo cosmic finale… Just in time for the sunrise. Swedish label When Disco Goes Wrong, curated by local heroes Mindbender and Högt I Tak (SXDNS179), features seasoned DJ and producer Pawel Kobak for its 13th release. No remixes this time, only originals– and extremely well-produced originals, we’d say. It was a tough mission to choose one to premiere/review. In his “BuzzBuzz” EP, Pawel showcases his ability to bring together his (many) influences, delivering an interesting concoction of soundscapes. Deep, Progressive, and Classic House elements combined with shards of Trance and Techno, that’s what we found when were getting familiar with the EP.

The chosen one, “Deep Sea Creatures”, despite its aquatic-inspired title, enchants with an enticing cosmic atmosphere. Presenting a restless minimalistic synth lead, the theme reaches its zenith when the gorgeous Bizarre-Inc-meets-Marshall-Jefferson-inspired piano line takes the stage, providing an “oh yes, right there, this is it!” moment.

We are glad to welcome back an important member of the Dust & Blood’s family, our close friend 
Darlyn Vlys, for his EP “Paper Tiger”. 
Darlyn Vlys is the boss of the very promising label “Polaris” launched in 2022 and already 
supported by the biggest names on the worldwide electronic scene. 
He distills music both nostalgic and futuristic that makes his public addicted. It’s therefore not 
surprising that famous labels as Correspondant, TAU, Roam Recordings, Aeon, to name a few, 
have placed their full trust in him, especially with his hits like “Kronos” and “Behind Us” made 
in collaboration with Damon Jee, “Doble Impacto”, “Return from Delta” and more... But was it 
really necessary presenting him? 

For this new EP “Paper Tiger”, Darlyn Vlys has decided to step out of his comfort zone and the risk was worth it! 
With the first track “Paper Tiger”, he strikes us an effective and powerful beat, in an indie techno spirit, with a cosmic voice that takes us far into 
the stars! 
The second track “Togedemaru”, in a minimal and warm style at the same time thanks to the percussions, he reveals his influences clearly 90s.
