Framework co-founder SJ takes the reins for Episode 4 of Yax Invites. Have a read of his bio below, along with some words about his contribution towards the mix series:

I am a 21-year-old DJ based in Manchester UK and co-founder of Manchester based collective and podcast series, Framework. 

My first route into electronic music was around the age of 15 where I started to get in to house music, leading me to gain a strong love for Chicago and Detroit house. Around this time, I basically used to spend hours listening to music on YouTube and through these algorithms I discovered tracks such as Black Russian and all DVS1s early Klockworks releases which remain some of my favourite pieces of music, with DVS1 being my idol and main source of inspiration, and essentially opened up a whole new musical world to me.

This in turn led me deeper into the electronic music spectrum, sparking an interest in Detroit techno, resulting in me seeing artists such as Robert Hood in my mid to late teens. Ever since I have built a strong passion for techno, delving deeper and deeper into the many different facets of the genre which has resulted in my current taste, revolving particularly around deep, sci-fi and mental hypnotic techno as I see this as more than just simply music, it is something much more powerful than that and the ability of music and sonics to alter your mind states and moods on the dance floor is something I find fascinating.

I love the concept of an extended mix series as I feel that extended mixes are the best way to truly portray your sound and tell your story, as opposed to feeling the need to hammer it out from the off which is the instinct that can arise with shorter mixes. 

For this mix I aimed to tell a story, weaving in different atmospheres and textures to build tension and have different twists and turns before ending on some groovier sounds and old school Detroit classics.

Most recently Fernie has released on Informa with his well received Spatial Awareness EP and teamed up with fellow Scottish artists Deepbass and Repart to promote their Orbits events. Fernie also continues to run his own Space Textures (@spacetextures) imprint pushing both new artists and established names music and teams with Norwegian based Monument (@monument-podcast) to curate their iconic podcast series.

Based in Antwerp, Yogg was born in the 90’ and delved into the clubbing scene at an early age. His soundscapes are characterized by a unique sound design, impact cuts of body-slamming techno with deep synths and sleek rhythms. 

Yogg has made a name for himself over the years, committing to exciting sound explorations, in-depth projects, releases & remixes. He released on various labels such as Non Series, Illegal Alien, 30D Records, Counterchange, Gradient, Tales Collective, and others. 

His DJ sets, energetic, mind-bending, and wrapped in multilayered textures of ambient were described as ‘sounds that turn your mind inside out with its long and hypotonic grooves’ and earned him a spot in prestigious clubs around the world such as Berghain, Tresor, Concrete, Village Underground, Contact and several more. 

Yogg was a resident & curator at The Block Club for several years and a resident DJ at Homopatik & AVADON.

Developer joins us this week on Train Wrecks. Hailing from Los Angeles, the prolific producer gives us a rare insight to early days starting out as a DJ all the way up to his current fast-paced workflow in the studio as a credible techno producer.

For the bulk of his output, he releases on the three labels he owns: Developer Archive, Olympian, and Modularz. He is also closely affiliated with Polegroup in Spain, working alongside the likes of Oscar Mulero and Christian Wunsch.
