I originally made this track as a Christmas gift on the Minus website in 2009. It's probably the closest thing I'll ever make to Christmas music, but it's a quirky take on an old holiday tune. Just when you thought this release couldn't get any bigger... Swedish techno god Adam Beyer rolls in with a gigantic remix for Turbo, the first thing he's done for the Canadian label since his Stockholm Mix Sessions CD back in 2002. The energy swells and builds without ever breaking down completely, the train has left the station and it's not stopping for anyone, ever. Guaranteed massive... the only question is whether your party is big enough to contain this.

Tiga VS Audion - Let's Go Dancing (Adam Beyer Remix)

Truly one of the most prolific producers of the Techno New Breed, Markus Suckut always delivers with his trademark reduced style, designed for heavyweight soundsystems and heavyweight DJs. This new four tracker from the central Figure artist finds him in deep exploratory mode, working subtle, hypnotic hooks with a fresh and robust sound palette.

'District' introduces the EP, with its bold bass rumble and minimalist attitude. The bass end stomps while the silky hats gently caress. Hints of melody wash above it all yet don't overpower the submerged funk. The haunting electrostatic of 'Rays' sets the geiger-counter off in a ultra reduced tool for bassline-loving DJs.

A rolling synth attack follows with 'Mutation' - inspired and controlled peak energy for the deeper techno crew. Markus holds everything at bay, allowing each of the handful of elements to eventually have their moment in the spotlight. 

Finally the hypnosis of 'Decontamination' winds up this excellent EP with its technoid soul and as always Suckut's killer bass end. Once again Markus Suckut sticks to his manifesto and keeps things locked down to their most essential constituent parts!

In what is a momentous occasion for Soma Records, we hit the milestone 400th release of the label and who better to see this in than label heads SLAM as they lead up to their new album due to drop this October. Soma are proud to present the double A sided Rotary/Catacoustics. Slam have been locked away in the studio these past months working hard on their latest album which sees them look to past machines and new technologies to form the base of this new album. These album sessions have spawned two raucous tracks that state where the veteran producers are with their sound. These tracks have the dance floor firmly in mind and display the years of experience Slam have in knowing what exactly will whip up a storm.

Rotary opens the EP with a definite analogue rawness as a storming synth hook leads the track from the offset. Keeping it stripped back the boys allow the hook to bend and evolve over the course of the track, reminiscent of early Hood-esq minimalism. Straight up percussion backs the track and keeps the groove true to Techno.

Catacoustics takes things down a deeper route as low subs rumble while a nicely delayed bell tone reverberates gently in the background giving depth to the track. Strung out percussion flutters in the back as subtle time stretch is applied giving this a trippy and mind melting feel. Slam pull back on the reigns ever so slightly going into the break as yet more subtle builds give tension before firing back with the hypnotic feel essence of the track

Soma400 signals the start of the countdown to the latest Slam album and also shows why they have been in electronic music for over 20 years.

Sometimes the right things just fall into the right place and so it happened with an old track by Thomas P. Heckmann under his Drax disguise, named Section 2. Originally released as Techno’s first ever 7inch, it was very popular in 1993 and paved the way for the huge follow ups like Drax Three -Phosphene and the hugely influential and successful Drax LTD.II - Amphetamine.

But read what Mark Broom has to say about this new version and enjoy :
„I was a fan of your Drax material & I had the original red picture disc, had that track on my hard drive & it fitted perfect to the track I was making at the time, sent it to Alan Fitzpatrick a few years ago & he would always ask me if it will ever get released, then out of the blue he sent me his edit & the rest as they say is history!!“
