Bau Muzik is the new label created by DEAS and inspired by his fascination of the Bauhaus style. This project will showcase new music from DEAS and a selection of special guests. We invite you to dive into the soundscapes showcasing his definition of modern techno.
 
DEAS has been building his music profile following excellent EPs on Abstract Division's Dynamic Reflection, Marco Bailey's MATERIA and legendary Dutch label Planet Rhythm, as he continues to impress with his expertly crafted dance floor weapons.
 
Rotterdam's Triple Vision is the distributor of Bau Muzik who look after labels like Bas Mooy's Mord, Dax J's Monnom Black and Emmanuel's ARTS.
 
"Confusion" has huge rolling drums under haunting, lead synth stabs followed by an electrified lead sound that builds into the break with rising tension. A powerful feeling of menace and faultless function is locked inside the groove.
 
"Block" is the title track and second offering, with thundering percussion and sharp, metallic hits it uses intense bleeps and sweeps to make this a breakneck DJ weapon.
 
Third up, "Convenience" has a stomping sound combining with abstract, eerie tones to create an ominous, trippy and twisted mood within this peak time jam.
 
Closing the EP with "Dystopian Future" it focuses on a sci-fi aesthetic made from morphing, warping acid licks and static hums that prowl the airwaves with a somewhat sinister motive. The synth accents that appear later really take it to higher heights of hypnotic engagement.

Over the past few years, somewhat mysteriously, @Volster has gradually become one of the most noted figures of the Croatian electronic scene, leaving his signature through production, DJing, event organisation and running a label imprint: @secessionrec.

The main subculture Marko was positively exposed to in the 90’s was techno, a style he has been practising for almost two decades now. As he was performing within and outside the Croatian borders, Volster gradually started experimenting and developing his signature textured sound leading him to sing and publish his work across his own labels and others such as Edit Select, @Vakum-Records and @northallsenrecords to name a few. 

To this day, Volster has performed all across Europe ranging from clubs to festivals like Dimensions Festival and Modem Festival which brought him to his most notable appearance and debut performance at @berghain in September 2019.

Take a look over Ashley Burchett’s back catalogue and you’ll find the Greater London resident has played an understated yet influential role in purporting British techno. Fifteen years ago Burchett’s prevailing Ø [Phase] project debuted on Sheree Rashit and Steve Bicknell’s Cosmic Recordings before providing Cosmic ID with its final record in 2002, and since 2007 Burchett's helped mould and define the sound of Token by becoming the label’s marquee artist.

In 2013 the Belgian imprint finally coaxed the debut album from Ø [Phase], Frames Of Reference, described in Tony Naylor’s 4/5 review for Resident Advisor as, “a techno album of real imagination and depth that, when it needs to be, is brutally functional.” Almost two years since its release Ø [Phase] is back with Alone In Time?, his second studio album which adds to the continuous slew of unrivalled long players Token has put out of late. Token spreads the 11-tracks on Alone In Time? across three heavy weight discs, and the music further demonstrates Burchett’s deft skill in linear arrangements shaped to fit the warehouse frame, while painting a colourful, Detroit influenced side to his productions yet to really be heard to this extent before.

This uncharted sound of Ø [Phase] can be found in tracks like “Remote”, the album’s homage to electro, to the jittery, alien grooves of “Spacialize”, “Mo_del” and “Nep-tune”. There’s big room domination on productions like “Orbitron” and “R-Mash”, while the album’s title-track is a journey through Burchett’s conceptual references to cosmology, time and isolation. Burchett explains, "it was always an intention to make another album and now just felt like the right time. Life moves on, we change and grow. As lessons get learned and ideas form, the desire to express them gradually manifests."

Furthermore, Burchett adds, “Frames Of Reference was about overcoming personal struggles and challenges, while Alone In Time? is more forward facing.” With an extensive back catalogue in his wake, Ø [Phase] has become a relied source for the discerning techno DJ and these new, expertly crafted club cuts add to his ever-expanding pool of productions for selectors to choose from, and it’s clear, if the bouncing rhythm of “Blind Eye” and orchestral epic of “The Maze” is anything to go by, Ø [Phase] isn’t only head strong, but standing tall.

Over the past few years, somewhat mysteriously, Volster has graduallybecome one of the most noted fresh figures of the Croatian electronic scene, leaving his signature through production, DJing, event organisation and, since recently, launching his own vinyl label, Out of Place.
The main subculture Marko was positively exposed to in the 90’s was techno, a style he has been practicing for almost two decades now. As he was performing within and outside the Croatian borders, Volster gradually started experimenting with his sound in the production process that led to signing his early releases with a few smaller foreign record labels. Frequent travelling around Europe and absorbing the music of foreign performers, such as Sandwell District, Mike Parker and Sleeparchive, significantly affected him and his relationship with the similar sound grew even stronger.
After launching Out of Place label, the only logical move was to start publishing his music, making his Nihilist EP label’s first release. What characterises Nihilist EP are harsh and cosmic tangles that vary from hypnotic techno to Detroit inspired electro, which guaranteed noted feedback from a few well-known artists. In addition, this release earned him the biggest recognition for the electronic music in Croatia, by winning the Klubska Scena award for Ambassador of the Year in the Vinyl of the Year category.
Parallel to the new musical chapter of his life, Volster launched TRAUM and Hipertenzija events in his hometown, bringing a new style of techno and club life, characteristic for the majority of Europe, to the local audience. Francois X, Amotik, DJ Deep, Antigone, Etapp Kyle, Paula Temple and Cassegrain are some of the few names that TRAUM hosted so far.
2018 saw a radical turn in his vision as establishing himself as an artist by launching his self-managed imprint, Secession. The first record entitled “The Process of Becoming” was released in December of 2018 featuring remixes from Swedish master of contemporary techno Anthony Linell and talented Berlin based duo Cassegrain. Second release is set for winter 2020.
To this day Volster has performed across the Europe ranging from clubs in Berlin and Budapest to festivals like Dimensions Festival and Modem Festival with his most notable appearance and debut performance in infamous club Berghain - Panorama Bar on September 2019.
