Interview with Jing Lekker turns out to be like a good piece of literature. It opens the inner landscapes of approaching music, it’s frequencies and even spiritual layers. Jing mentions the importance of audience togetherness, being able to greet the dance floor without expectations, playfulness and creativity of DJ'ing and, finally, being undoubtedly passionate about your lifestyle which becomes equal to work and vice versa. Taiwan born and Berlin based producer and DJ raises up awareness in the scene discussing the habit of staying ignorant about the cultural grounds which are nurturing artists careers whilst they are in need of high level sensitivity and solidarity. Jing talks sincerely about her life, big amounts of pure joy is strongly perceptible. This is much needed. Good news – Jing Lekker will play in DT CAMP this year so this Q&A might become a good intro.

Alienata

Spanish-born, Berlin-based Alienata is a self-described sound obsessive
whose sets span obscure electro, ACID, dub, IDM, dark disco, hypnotic techno, industrial atmospheres, breakbeats, cosmic jazz , UK electro, Detroit, Chicago influences and crazy sounds in general. A former philosophy student with a particular interest in mysticism, Alienata began DJing in 2004. In conjunction with Valencia's Overflow Collective, she not only served as a resident DJ but also participated in theatre and music technology workshops and oversaw its label operations. Her earliest contact with Germany's music scene came through Leipzig's Homoelektrik collective, and upon moving to Berlin in 2011, she quickly found an adoptive family in the Killekill label and associated Krake Festival. This relationship helped make her a respected mainstay in clubs in Berlin, Germany and Europe, but her international profile has been steadily increasing each year: NYC, Chicago, Sydney, Melbourne, Bogotá, Moscow. In recent times we have been able to experience its genuine style in booths like Fabric, Panorama
Bar or ADE. When behind the decks, Alienata is closely attuned to both internal and external influences and is unconcerned with providing listeners with an outstanding and energetic experience. It is not strange that legends like Dave Clarke (who recently played a B2B in ADE) DJ Stingray, Ben Sims or Ron Morelli have expressed all their support and respect for her.

With all that knowledge behind and a true love for music she decided to start her own imprint “Discos Atónicos” in 2017 where she can materialize all its varied influences, counting on legendary artists like Beta Evers, Dez Williams, Artificiero, BS-1 or Cosmic Force.

While primarily focusing on DJing, Alienata has released a few different records & remixes in recent years with collaborations with Snuffo of the jacking Snuff Crew & Sync24 -CEO of the legendary UK electro imprint Cultivated Electronics- Her most recent contribution has been to the great Ben Sims ‘Tribology’ Compilation, together with artists of the size of Robert Hood, James Ruskin or Mark Broom.
Since 2017 she hosts a monthly show called ‘Nova Express’ on the French LYL radio.

We welcome the fantastic electro duo of CYRK for mix #093.


CYRK is a live show and studio duo born from the visions of two Berlin-based producers, Samy Goossens and Pascal Hetzel.


They have been busy playing around the world as a live act, bringing their Detroit-influenced blend of techno, acid and electro, as well as their love for all things italo to some of the world’s best dancefloors.  From their extensive hardware set up, they fuse tough, eyes-down grooves with propulsive basslines and restrained, melodic atmospheres.


Their studio work has led to acclaimed releases on Running Back, Rawax, Burial Soil, Vakant, Avoidant, Dred, Lone Romantic, International Chrome, Discos Atonicos and their own Time Zero label, as well as remixes for Fabrice Lig, DJ Hell and T99.  In September 2021 they released their debut album, ‘Escaping Earth’ on Muallem’s (of-Blitz-club-fame) label, Childhood to much international acclaim.


There is more in the pipeline: an electronica/ambient album, two very special collaborative releases, which will be announced in due time.
