[TN024] RNGD & Eg0n - Undetected EP

With TN024, another split EP hits the surface, this time a southern European get together between the Spanish RNGD and the Portugese Eg0n. Both of whom are delivering some fast paced, high quality techno cuts that instantly remind you of basements filled with nothing but strobes and smoke.

RNGD starts off with lots of energy in ‘Through Fire’, a lethal cocktail of high energy and rumbling kicks, leaving no room for breath. His second track ‘Invisible Structures’ delivers more of where that came from, only adding panning white noise and other stretched glitches to the equation.

Eg0n proves to be a perfect match for that, his ‘Namcom’ introduces a tighter vibe without compromising in terms of power. ‘System 12.5’ makes for this instalment’s perfect outro, bringing the first and only distant melody into play, supported by old school drum machine funk.

With all that summed up, Undetected EP paves the way for the club season in a proper fashion, providing one of this fall’s earliest full throttle EPs so far.

I met him on the dance floor at Eerste Communie. This record is a homage to the organization and beautiful people I can call family. 

Let the dance floor be shifted into a collective oceanic feeling.

For the eight edition of their label catalogue, [selected] puts the focus on their residents again. The Berlin based duo Lyric are in charge of this one, putting hypnotizing loops and tantalizing rhythms as their main focus.
As it should be, the EP starts out with its „Introduction”. It is plain and simple – no playing around, straight to the point techno without unwanted attitude or makeup. Sounds creeping in and out, searching for their roots and restlessly evolving by any means necessary.
Only the universe is „Eternal”. The mesmerizing scapes and slashes that build the composition construct a feeling of endless enchantment, while leaving no room for doubts that this is – indeed – eternal.
„Neologism” digs deeper and explores the greater realms of the genre. Soft keys dangle over ones head like an asymmetric pendulum – drooling you in, putting you in a transcendent state where everything is nothing and no limits seem to exist.
While still in trance, „Hemisphere” puts a spin on the record’s atmosphere. The mind boggling loop character is still very present, the odd chord progression puts an unexpected twist on it. Almost nightmare-ish, the elements gather and layer around you like a snake that has just shed its skin.
For the finale A.Morgan puts his spin on „Hemisphere”. The chords get more stabby, a range of belly, clinching percussion are eager to express themselves, tumbling through spheres of light and darkness.

Who are you? What do you do? 
I grew up with music, music has been around as long as I can remember. In a later stage of my life I completed my music education. By reflecting the music I received from my family into my professional dj life I learned a lot about music and life. But I am aware that I am still able to learn and experience so much because the world of music is endless and you can always discover something new. 

If you were an animal, which one would you be? 
I love the panda, but if I wanted to be born as an animal, I would prefer to be an underwater creature. Because there are still unexplored oceans and that is another way of life. So my choice would be the dolphin, which is both intelligent and very capable of analyzing danger. 

 If music wouldn’t exist, which job would you like to do?
If music wouldn’t exist, I would definitely want to be the person who created the characters in cartoons or animated films. It would be fun to bring these characters to life and embellish every child's imagination.

If I had to describe my mix with one word it would be: “Hot”

Three superbly crafted techno tools from Nihad Tule, with plenty of energy and impeccable attention to detail. Resurface offers trippy chords and ever changing patterns on top of a driving beat. On the flip, Passing is built on a deceivingly simple hook, sparkled with drones over a pounding 909. Ascend brings it all home with a gradually evolving hook, stripped down to the bare bones yet still offering a powerful crescendo.
