I made a 7/4 track for him, knowing he can sail odd waves, and here you are the fantastic result !!

All sounds here (melody, texture, harmony, percussive sounds etc) are made from a field recording of the dogs in the valley below my balcony... well except for my whistle : ) 
They have been my sonic companions
Residency is coming to end, its been a month of complete experimentation with more than 20 little sketches done, all using field recordings captured around Montegiovi, Tuscany. With these little works I am experimenting freely with what can be produced from each days sounds - manipulating them and stitching them back together with the aim of producing a long format work at the end of the residency. The idea is to have them done by the end of the day (or night) then move on to something fresh the next day.
I am truly thankful for this opportunity that has been provided for me by the Salamanca Arts Centre in Tasmania and Cultivate Projects/La Baldi residency in Italy and The USA.
And of course the wonderful people of Montegiovi !

Wow, this is it, the final song I will be posting for the untitled album Stricknice, Bitzone, Wou-Wou & the Wormling and I have been working on! We posted the first song, “Ghosting Out,” from this set on January 4, 2021. I started this set of 12 songs in 2020, during the pandemic, using demo tracks that Wou-Wou graciously allowed me to use. I can’t, yet totally can, believe that it took 5 years to finish and finally post all the songs. I am still not sure if all 12 songs will be included in the album since the total run time is about 43 minutes and I like albums to be a little closer to 30 minutes. We still also need to decide on the track sequence. Eventually the album will be posted the album on Bandcamp for free. 

I have written it many times before and I will write it again, it has been an immense pleasure and honor and blast to work with Sticknice, Bitzone, and Wou-Wou on this set of songs. I feel so lucky to have had this opportunity.

This was a remix for a local band called Coda from way back in the year 2000.

The project ended up being shelved as the band split up, but as their original material has recently been made available on Spotify etc. I thought it was a good time to release the remix to mark its 25th anniversary.

The remix along with a 'dub' version are now also available to buy as an E.P. on the usual platforms, with the band's permission.

Introduction and Lyrics in English

This song was inspired by the images of war that I have been increasingly confronted with on the internet, television, and social media in recent years.
The verses are an attempt to translate the sometimes unspeakable horror of brutally extinguished lives and destroyed houses and cities into pictorial, metaphorical language.
The chorus expresses the longing to stop this creeping wave of destruction and counter it with a profound world peace. A world peace that will lead stray souls, who are currently being seduced by right-wing populist and ultimately warmongering slogans, to return to their true loving, deeply humanistic core selves.
Since the entire song is a kind of desperate plea for more love for oneself and others, I chose Picasso's famous painting “The Supplicant” as song-cover.

Speedy blues

Hello….. It’s snowing now. I recorded this song in a snowstorm the other day… inside of course. I was working on a folk song. Fingerpicking and traditional lyrics, and as what sometimes happens, I really wasn’t really feeling it. So I cranked things up a bit and here we go. I’ll be 70 years old in a few months, which seems like some sort of milestone. (Better than a tombstone) I started listening to music as a young teenager in the 60’s, when my friend Joe turned me on to a lot of great music, most notably, the Woodstock Album. He’s dead now. I never played an instrument or sung until the late 80’s when plucked my first guitar in Germany. Within the last 15 years, I have been learning about and playing music. (Now’s my chance.) Ha. Christmas Rut!

Songster version was a little ‘copla’ about not being able to be with, nor without, a loved person.  As usual, I’ve ‘upgraded’ it, process from which you only get the final result, normally. 

But, following lyrics’ contradictions, I not only serve parts with different levels of (dis)order in heavy rock - flamenco sauce, but raw vs very cooked parts as well, starting with the improvised phone recording of the very first idea I had to develop the song, so please excuse my failures and noises.
