Introducing Pala EP, the first instalment of Pressure Dome’s new tape series and a PD debut from London’s City Kudu. So far finding its home across Manchester’s Access Memory imprint, and Kudu’s own beloved brainchild, Kite Hill Records, the emerging producer’s discography toys with space and rhythm to create immersive environments.

In keeping with this theme, Pala EP is a thoughtful display of the ways in which light and shade can co-exist in dance music, each track bolstered by driving bass lines and accented by delicate melodic flares. Honeysuckle and Jade draw on dubbed-out soundscapes taken from the schools of Basic Channel and SND, both enlivened by the dynamism of tuned drums. The former is haunted by a fragmented voice, whilst the latter is bathed in a plaintive ambience. Connected in their half-time pace, Pala and Twine work to further emphasise the dichotomy between light and shade. The title track’s dancehall-indebted rhythm accompanies radiant pads, whilst Twine represents its gritty counterpart, not a far cry from the work of Livity Sound extraordinaires Toma Kami and Kouslin. 

Exclusively on offer to those swift enough to get their hands on a limited edition cassette, the B-side sees Kudu wear the EP’s influences on his sleeve, offering an inspiration mix featuring music that has fed into the sound of the EP.

The rest of the compilation sees knockout contributions from the likes of Bambounou, Flore, Konduku, Tristan Arp, NVST, De Grandi, Neida, Cheb Runner, Malo2k, Leese, Ultima Esuna & Destrata, Mika Oki, M I M I and Space Drum Meditation. Whilst these artists may be from different cities across the pond, they all have something in common - they are leading the way for the next wave of club music. Whether that’s the riotous sounds of NVST, Griffit Vigo’s ever- evolving landscape of gqom, Tristan Arp’s signature insect-inspired soundscape, the emerging Brussels-based artists M I M I and Mika Oki or the trippy, introspective melodies of Konduku and Space Drum Meditation. The artwork is by Brussels-based painter Anastasia Bay who’s work presents a renewed vision of the human figure. Oscillating between abstraction and figuration, Anastasia Bay’s work is all about contrast and balance. The choice of a precise fragment of reality in her works dissolves any narration. »

Turin-based imprint Early Reflex, helmed by DJ and Producer Alec Pace, proudly announces the release of "Flex005" to commemorate its fourth anniversary. The milestone series continues Early Reflex's mission to propel leftfield techno and experimental club music into uncharted territory, showcasing both established icons and rising talents from around the globe.
Since its inception, Early Reflex has been a beacon of innovation in the electronic music scene, consistently pushing boundaries and challenging conventions. "Flex005" is no exception, offering an immersive journey through 12 tracks that redefine the sonic landscape.

The tracks featured on Flex005 span a wide range of styles and influences, each offering a unique perspective on the intersection of techno and experimental soundscapes.This highly anticipated release features a diverse array of tracks from both established icons and emerging talents, each offering a unique perspective on the intersection of electronic music and artistic innovation.

Kicking off the journey is "Fingernail" from label head Alec Pace, a junglesque fusion of intricate rhythms and atmospheric textures that sets the stage for the immersive sonic experience. Next up is "Pressure" by Sha Ru, the New York-via-Berlin duo known for their deft fusion of spoken word and bass-heavy electronics, their contribution is a sonic voyage is a gritty, bass-heavy track that fuses elements of industrial techno with hypnotic melodies.
Circular Square's track "D-Ta32" invites listeners on an immersive journey into a digital realm, blending complex rhythms and big bass with an IDM vibe, while No Sir's "Surface Gage" sophisticatedly weaves highly textured, spacious layers of sound, punctuated by percussive elements and bursts of noise, creating dynamic planes of ambiance.
Capiuz's "Slide Up" offers a high-energy sonic journey driven by metallic riffs crafted through FM synthesis, juxtaposed with jersey-club kicks and high-impact percussions, resulting in a captivating blend of catchy yet melody-deprived lead elements.
Small Crab's contribution "Crab Claws" presents a dynamic exploration of metallic and textured drums, seamlessly blending sound and texture to create a harmonious fusion that captivates the listener's senses, while ZULI's "A Birdie" offers a masterful exploration of abstract soundscapes and drums exercise with a lighthearted touch, reflecting the Berlin-based Egyptian artist’s eclectic approach to music production.
Seta Loto's "SiO2" delivers a dream-like auditory journey through pulsating synths and hypnotic rhythms, while Young Muscle in "Better Off" weaves together the influences of breakbeat and bass music with elements of techno, funky house, and dubstep.
London-based producer's "Slimy Fingers" offers an eclectic fusion of dubstep's signature digital bass with elements borrowed from diverse genres, while "Asemia" by British producer and sound artist Ziyiz takes listeners on a captivating sonic journey that melds futuristic club music with esoteric sound design. Closing out the compilation is "Buccia di RospoShimmer” by Italian duo Ninja Exotic Machine, a captivating journey through the wildness of deformed selva, narrating the tale of a quirky JunglistRospo evading danger amidst shimmering riddims and mystical wizard light.

Info: The "NIGHT TRAIN EP" marks the start of our collab. Since we linked
up, we've been producing, spinning tracks, and sharing our love to all
sorts of breaks and Bass music.
Metronone got a production background influenced by Electro and
American bass, Dimosoundz more influenced by jungle, bass and British
rave culture.
On this EP, It's all about blending our backgrounds and finding the sweet
spot. It's a groove focused EP influenced by the early days of UK Rave
culture, featuring smooth pads, banging kicks, and Amen break, along
with hints of Miami Bass and early Baile Funk.
The name "NIGHT TRAIN" came from our grind – from late-night
production sessions to hitting the first or last train after a DJ sesh.
The clips were processed with some analog video gear and a touch of
Cordon Bleu finesse.

James Young steps up for his first release on QRUK with the Nagasaki EP, a dark and driving UKG cut that leans into the moodier edges of Garage and Speedy G. The North Wales-based producer has already made waves with House releases on labels like Smashin Trax and Pogo House, but this new EP sees him pushing into heavier, more dancefloor-focused territory. Nagasaki is packed with chopped-up drums, eerie textures and a tough low-end that hits hard.

On remix duties is Kabo Cana, returning to the label after making a big impression with his debut I DON'T UNDERSTAND. His take on Nagasaki flips the original into a more club-ready, 90s inspired roller full of sub pressure and tight percussion. It's another strong showing from the Manchester-based producer who's quickly becoming an exciting name in the new wave of UKG.

"This time profits will be split between two amazing services. The first is Faz Amnesty. Faz, a victim of knife crime himself in the past, connects through the community on instagram and swaps JD vouchers for weapons he then disposes of with the police. The second Steel Warriors, take knives off the streets and melt them down into calisthenics training bars in public parks.
 
Together they're working in Shubzin's home province of Enfield to build a park for local young people to get involved and be part of a positive and supportive community. With Knife crime in London hitting record levels this year just gone and policing either ineffective or inflammatory, organizations like the above are crucial in not only keeping our communities safe but mentoring and guiding those who want help to change for the better."
