After just over a year-long hiatus from the Earthly Tapes series – the 3rd Chapter is finally upon us. Offering more mind-altering tracks to the series, we welcome 6 new members to the Earthly Measures familia!

We kick things off with ‘Comets (part I & II)’, the first release by ORSO, the new musical project from Jean Dasso AKA Yeahman, stepping into club and drum music. Alongside faster rhythms, he is influenced by UK Break music, African dances and traditional instruments. In the opening track for Earthly Tapes 03, we’re taken through a two chapter journey led by modular melodic loops, old traditional voices samples, ORSO’s own recordings.

We then take a trip to Argentina as we welcome Balam to the EM family, join him as he takes you on a daydream across the Latin-American rainforest where synthesizers and nature collide to make the perfect mix, guided by a voice from the deep jungle. ‘Ensueño’ is a dance-floor tool for both the start and end of the night.

Japanese native Mamazu brings up the tempo for the third track ‘Tombi’. Transporting us to a hypnotic and hedonistic state as delightful aerophones sound with the exotic chant delivering the feeling of a dry breeze from the unseen frontier. Another dance floor ripper!

The B-side starts with ‘Voces’, a track inspired by the music that Chilean artist DJ Raff’s mum listened to when he was a teenager making beats in his bedroom. He used to take her records and tapes to sample and make boom-bap beats at the time. Every time he showed her a new beat, she had the ability to recognize the track that he sampled. Voces is influenced by both Spanish and Chilean 70’s music, although very deconstructed and hidden.

Ditti takes us through ever-twisting waves as we swim upstream, spot the time and take off... welcome to ‘Poly Party’. The soundtrack to a carnivalesque funked out ballad on a Polynesian beach shifting between slide & ride, cutting synths and dripping flows.

We wrap things up with ‘Small Town Rebellion’, a story told by Scottish producer Kusht – this downtempo chugger reflects the story of a young man in a dead-end town with no future. He needs to break his fate and carve his own path by revolting and manifesting his own destiny.

Ira takes-on many roles in the music and creative spheres. By day, a media designer, art director, and technical artist. By night, he shapes dance floors with his selection of sounds.

Ira began his undertaking in Brunei and Singapore, merging his skills as a graphic designer, photographer, videographer, and promoter. Now back in the Philippines, he's making a significant contribution to the local electronic music and creative scenes.

But he's not just about spinning records—Ira also gets involved in visual design and music direction, helping teams to piece together well-rounded shows. His varied style has earned him spots on some of Manila's respected stages, like Fete De La Musique, XX XX, 20:20, and Nokal. He’s also brought energy to beach destination festivals all over the Philippines.

Ira has since explored neighboring dancefloors in the region, bringing his unique blend of electronic music to a wider audience.

Whether he’s DJing, or working on visuals, Ira aligns his art and sound in a way that leaves a lasting impression on those who experience his work.

Crafting moments that linger, and define the times. His work is far from done.

DJ, Creator Inspired by the Divine, reflecting frequencies that invite movement, passion, presence and transmutation. 

Born in Puerto Rico, raised in the greater Los Angeles, CA area and also being of Mexican heritage, his musical influences span worldwide. 

In 2012 he set out on a deeper journey of self discovery and healing where he discovered medicine music.  

In 2017 he attended and participated in large scale transformational festivals and events(LIB, Oregon Eclipse, Burning Man) where he was inspired by so much culture music and art. 

In all that time he has had a professional background working in photography, video production, business development and operations. 

He's built art installations and structures, facilitated events, and worked with non profit organizations.

In 2022, an opportunity came up to join an Ecstatic Dance DJ and Music Production retreat in Lake Atitlan Guatemala, he jumped in and started this next stage with the music. 

He's since played at Envision Festival, Burning Man, 15 Ecstatic Dances in Puerto Rico(as of March 2024), at micro festivals and other special events.

Oscuridad consciente 

Siempre he sido una flor nocturna, serena como la noche, por mis venas curre sangre azul añil, sangre de luz ultravioleta, siempre he sido de Nut, siempre he trabajado para la luz desde las sombras, siempre he despertado a las 4:20 de la tarde, esa es mi hora más feliz, cuando el sol que me enfada ya se ha ido, cuando Ra me ha dejado persuadida de los pensamientos de la tierra y su dolor de parto y en cambio me ha dejado el silencio, los cansados cuerpos que van a casa sin tanto ego, bañados de neón hasta lo más profundo de sus miedos. 

Siempre he pertenecido al manto negro, a mi manto estrellado, siempre he brillado como estalactitas bajo el fósforo, soy de la oscuridad, y de los deseos, a ella la llevo tatuada en mis ojos, en cada uno de mis cabellos ...yo soy de la melatonina, de la sustancia negra por la que circulan los deseos que le hago realidad a los soñadores, soy de la negra tierra de Egipto, de África, del cinturón de la Osa polar que me tiñe con su negro los huesos.

No quiero finjir más ser lo que no soy, y ser de la noche no me hace maldita, ni mala, ni disfuncional, me hace parte del todo, me hace ser lo que siempre he sido, y pertenecer al hemisferio en el que siempre me perdí por no entenderlo como parte mía, como parte del universo entero ...completo.

Ahora FINALMENTE me entrego a la oscuridad consciente ...no lucharé más.
