An all-star selector who builds sets from the underground up, Chaz is a deep digger, classy collector and all-round purveyor of rare finds and classic tracks from the bygone eras of house, techno, trance, electro and iterations in-between. Having played host to international artists including Kabuto and Mark/Klon Dump under the Syrup Records banner, Chaz is well acquainted with throwing a damn good party. In more recent times, Techworld (run alongside @sandpit_alias) has risen like a technicolour phoenix from the ashes of lockdown to cult-like status. As the scene’s taste for faster tempos grows and accelerates, Techworld offers monthly reprieve from the chaos by taking us back to basics. Good records, long sets, a rotating roster of the country’s finest DJs and a custom ENM Research mixer coalesce (with a few blue drinks) once a month at miscellanea to give us 18 hours of unadulterated afterhours hedonism. Chaz joined me live in the PBS studio for Passing Notes episode 187, but here we are lucky to hear a 1 hour guest mix recorded live at Techworld.

Ivan Smagghe is stepping up to take over Tapes #142. Known for his ability to play music like a raw conduit between famously obscure records whilst never losing sight of the dancefloor’s strobe soaked bodies - injecting something of himself seamlessly into the mix along the way. 

His genre defying/defining production from Black Strobe, It’s A Fine Line, Smagghe & Cross and now Ivan & Johnny has connected him to and garnered the praise from the likes of Craig Richards, Vladimir Ivkovic, Paranoid London, Solar and of course, his long time friend Andrew Weatherall - all fellow crusaders in the fight to prove that electronic music is so much more than a one dimensional soundtrack for a night on the lash, and so much more than an Instagram account.

"This is a livemix from our party series. I took over the dancefloor from Simon, resident of Warning, the party it self was a showcase of Warning and Summoning at the club TES, in general you could say its a Trance Mix with a house twist."

Cosmo is a DJ and producer based in Seoul, recognized as one of the most active and consistent figures in the city’s vibrant club scene. With residencies at Seoul’s BBCB: Beton Brut + Concrete Bar, she is now expanding her reach across Asia and Europe.Her DJ sets are known for their fluid mix of deep house, Balearic, and psychedelic disco, with occasional ventures into techier sounds. Rather than sticking to a single style, she creates an ethereal and radiant atmosphere, combining dynamic energy with storytelling that draws the audience into an immersive narrative.On her debut solo EP [JIN09], released through Taipei’s 禁JIN Records, Cosmo explores a celestial soundscape, blendinghouse and Balearic influences with 90s darker technoto craft a release that is both dreamy and daring.
