French producer Vici has been steadily carving out his place among drum & bass’s most respected names. Since his debut track “Fight” on True Bass Recordings back in 2017, he has gone on to release across a wide spectrum of influential imprints including Blackout, Eatbrain, Skankandbass, Kosen, and ProgRAM, while also hdelivering high-profile remixes for the likes of Noisia, Audio, and Neonlight. 2025 marked a career milestone with the release of his debut album Flashover on Annix and Simula’s Neksus Sound, which was met with critical acclaim and widespread support.

With a reputation built on uncompromising quality and fearless creativity, it was only a matter of time before Vici caught the attention of the artist-led label Evolution Chamber. Now, the imprint proudly presents his debut single on the label: “Never More / Shades Of Light (feat. īnkūbe)”.

“Never More,” opens with calm, euphoric pads that glide into a melodic bridge, subtly raising tension before erupting into a hard-hitting call-and-response drop that shines a bright light on Vici’s precision and detail in production. The track effortlessly shifts through moods and styles, from the track's powerful first drop into a restrained breakdown, before re-emerging with rolling drum patterns and, finally, an unexpected trip-hop switch that closes the track in striking fashion. It’s a track rooted in creativity, where every movement feels deliberate yet unpredictable.

On the flip, Vici teams up with long-time collaborator and vocalist īnkūbe for “Shades Of Light” which is an expansive, emotionally rich piece that reveals another dimension of his artistry and skillset. Opening with glistening pads and delicate atmospherics, īnkūbe’s vocal enters like a guiding presence, pulling the listener into an uplifting yet deeply moving soundscape. When the drop lands, it strikes a rare balance: powerful and heavy, yet elevated by īnkūbe’s vocal delivery, which adds a charged emotional depth. Few names carry the weight and innovation of Receptor, a producer long regarded as one of Drum & Bass’s most forward-thinking figures since his debut in 2008. As one of the founding members of Evolution Chamber, his influence has been cemented through ground-breaking solo works and collaborations that consistently raise the bar. Among those partnerships, his creative synergy with Engage has stood out for its intensity and precision, yielding tracks like Bio, Wi-Fi Waves, and Gothic. Now, a decade later, the pair return to the fold with their latest creation - “Surgeon.”

From its opening, Surgeon sets an unsettling tone with eerie pads and delicate hats, laying the groundwork for a sense of tension and intrigue. In the lands of a far distant future, a novel pharmaceutical allowed its patients to delve into the knowledge of their ancestors, watching the events of their lives as a silent observer to the collective memory that all held within. In the primal lands that lay under the cold embrace of a black sun, three wolves set out for new hunting grounds across the frigid north.

In each & every dimension, these linked souls each sought the treasure of knowledge lost, held in stasis by its isolation and eagerly awaiting its rediscovery. The mystical draw of such knowledge was constant, its tendrils of influence stretching beyond planar boundaries as it spurred those who heard its call to new feats of heroism. Thus it was in each of these dimensions, and thus it was in a final land, one in which two cowboys rode into the depths of the wilderness and in which saloons would soon sing the ballad of Scrugss & Sonny Jim.

The Scientist known as `Esym`, tracked the fallout across dead frequencies.

The battle in the Rockies registered as static bursts on his consoles, tremors reaching even the
Pacific floor. CrucifyMe had stood again, he always did, and the erasers had burned sky and stone around him. The world thought him indestructible. Esym knew better.

The scientist sat deep inside the drifting carcass of Australia, once a continent, now a vessel. Its turbines pushed through black seas, powered by the fractured ghost of the NERV3 processor buried in its core. Every surge was slower than the last.

He felt it in his own chest, an arrhythmia of machine and flesh. Esym was wired into its heartbeat. Without him, the island would drift until it sank. Without it, he would stop entirely.

He remembered when it was alive: cities lit in fractal grids, markets humming with neon and rain, voices layered across data-channels like music.

Now, whole districts stood empty, only the reactor’s glow keeping the island from going dark. 

And Esym, tethered here, was the last scientist among the bones of a nation. 

CrucifyMe’s signal reappeared on his screens, faint, staggered, but undeniable.

Esym leaned closer, cracked lips curling faintly. “Still walking. Good.” 

His voice rasped, digitized by the modulators stitched into his throat. “The Colony never understood what they built into you. They thought execution would be enough. They didn’t see the architecture.”

He rerouted power, aligning the island’s trajectory toward the Rockies. The turbines groaned,  churning saltwater into black foam. The NERV3 fragment screamed inside its glass coffin, data bleeding into the sea.

Esym didn’t care. The only structure left strong enough to carry the last pieces of a dying machine was the unit within. 

“Every crucifixion failed,” Esym whispered into the hum of servers. “But this one, this one will hold.”

The continent-island drifted forward, neon arteries lighting up for the first time in decades, dragging its rusted shadow across the ocean toward a man the world could not kill.
