Australian imprint @pocketmoth step into the double digits with an EP from close friend of the label, George Hickman. Operating simply as George, ‘Strange Ways’ is the first transmission from this new project and a fine example of his aptitude for crafting deep, transportive work.

Bringing the title of Flex004 the compilation features a selection of Leftfiled Club and Techno cuts from producers that have both already appeared on the label such as B E N N, Laenz, Sonia Calico and Alec Pace himself and other up and coming artists like Naco, Coe, Kincaid, Scalymoth, Ani Klang and the debut track from Ophélie.

Brisbane-based producer and DJ Scalymoth drops our feature: ‘Trashy’; an ode to drums and an outstanding club tool characterised by syncopated beats, snare rimshots and a pressing kick-drum played on the producer’s TR6s.

Brisbane based Centre Source Records brings on local talent and live electronic duo, Penelope Two Five, for their sixth release. The 'Tall Order' mini LP delves into their hazy analog sound while exploring revivalist breaks and house. 'Early Morning State' features UK garage like piano jabs, smooth male vocals, upbeat percussions and a uplifting synth reprise to close the track. 

Tall Order is out on Bandcamp on March 15th, 2019.

The Space Between Us return in 2020 with the second instalment of their local artists compilations, entitled "Hybrida" - named after the first flower to bloom in outer space.

All artists on the release are Brisbane-based, and the 8-track release spans a range of sounds - showing a cross section of the city's exciting musical fabric.

Opener, "Europa" is a bright bubbly fusion of breakbeat and electro synth-pop, followed by downtempo breaks (and Australiana vibes) of "Acid Walk Through Minyon Falls".

"Proto Psy Werkout" is high energy trance-infused techno fit for a heaving dancefloor, as is the highly percussive "Spring Inevitably Turns To Fall".

Trippy, dubbed out breaks feature in "When I'm Gone (Break Mix)", while "Transport" is a trip hop journey with a hypnotic acid line throughout.

"Marvie" explores a darker energy with more experimental arrangement, while "AREA 1" takes the listener to a feeling of weightlessness, as if floating through the stratosphere.

WILHELM

A dive into the realm of IDM, dub, footwork and ambient textures. ‘Wilhelm’ and ‘April’ are two tracks I wrote a bit earlier in the year. The first focused upon exploring the connection between tribal rhythmic percussion and dub techno, and the second a venture into building sonic atmosphere though dissonant texture and foley.

‘WILHELM’ is officially set for release on October 30th.
