Something that grew organically and became one of the most essential parts of our collective efforts  is the size of our extended family nowadays. One that does not wither away as we widened its range simply because the bonds therein are borne out of true friendship and musical kinship. So, when these familial ties weave a web that covers a territory that ranges from Australia to the inner cities of our own homeland, enmeshed through the sounds, joys and ideals we share. Amidst the nodes in this network we find rare talents, such as this one we have as our guest. Kauan hails from the vast São Paulo countryside and has gifted us with many moments of aural delight, especially as part of the groups of artists gathered around the magnificent 40% Foda Maneiríssimo label, and here delivers an exquisite selection of multifunctional grooves and polyvalent moods

Ladies and gents, dancers and DJs, artistes and amigos... it's with great pleasure that we formally launch episode #1 of our the Desert Island Disco 'Islander Cast' podcast series. The 'Islander Cast' series seemed the most natural way for us to extend our passion for discovering and sharing amazing music from talented DJs, musicians and producers who share our love of era-spanning, genre-hopping boogie music. 

The first mix in the series is brought to you by exciting French DJ, Souldade, who we believe perfectly captures the essence of our sound.

Souldade navigates across eras & genres to unearth overlooked tunes. His mixes and edits take you to forgotten dream places, from sunbathed exotic poolsides to moist outmoded clubs. Travelling back and forth between Europe, Africa, Brazil, American cities and other Caribbean islands, the motto remains unchanged: move you and make you move.

Following an intense, careless summer, this mix was for Souldade the perfect medium to enter the gloomier season that was ahead of every single one of us. Slowly switching from warm, bitter-sweet lovers rock songs to colder italo sounds, Souldade builds this typical outdated atmosphere he loves so much, and paves the way to more club-oriented tracks including an unreleased edit in the finale!

Richard Fribert é um sueco aficionado por vinil, reside em Paris onde é DJ e editor. No mundo virtual é um dos responsáveis ​​pelo canal do YouTube @quartiergroove, que explora grooves esquecidos e desconhecidos de todo o planeta e faz parte do coletivo parisiense @nostandards. 

Sua música o levou a Tóquio, Copenhague, Bruxelas e Estocolmo em 2019 e, em 2020, Richard permaneceu ocupado compartilhando suas descobertas musicais em programas de rádio na (Rinse France, Ola Radio Bordeaux, IMR Paris, Rocket Radio Milano, Depot Radio Copenhagen), mix de séries (De Kat Memwa de São Petersburgo) e com um filme / mixtape de 60 min explorando muitos grooves raros brasileiros e caribenhos e filmes épicos para a equipe dinamarquesa Back To Future Sounds.

Ele está prestes a lançar sua primeira edição no Bandcamp para o jovem selo brasileiro Bongosynth (não perca sua opinião sobre esta faixa de Ivete Sangalo axé) e Richard é o homem por trás de um punhado de edits amigáveis de sons turcos e libaneses ​​para pistas de dança.



Em seu mix, Richard leva do down ao uptempo, do Brasil ao Oriente Médio, passando pelos mais diversos gêneros e estilos. Richard Fribert is a Swedish vinyl affecionado, DJ and edit maker based in Paris. He is one of the guys behind the YouTube channel @quartiergroove exploring forgotten and unknown grooves from all over the planet, and part of the Parisian collective @nostandards. His music took him all the way to Tokyo, Copenhagen, Brussels & Stockholm in 2019, and in 2020 Richard has remained busy sharing his music discoveries in radio shows at (Rinse France, Ola Radio Bordeaux, IMR Paris, Rocket Radio Milano, Depot Radio Copenhagen), mix series (De Kat Memwa from St Petersburg) and with a 60 min film/mixtape exploring lots of Caribbean and Brazilian rare grooves and epic films for the Danish crew Back To Future Sounds. He is currently just about to release his first edit on Bandcamp for the young Brazilian label Bongosynth (don’t miss his take on this hard-hitting Ivete Sangalo axé track) and Richard is the man behind a handful of upcoming dancefloor friendly edits with Turkish and Lebanese roots.



In his mix, Richard takes from down to uptempo, from Brazil to the Middle East, through a wide variety of genres and styles. He showcases both some of his most recent own discoveries, a few of his own new private cuts, and towards the end he features some unreleased exclusive music made by friends @dardisku & @movingstill.
