For the 136th guestmix in our AstroFM series, Cologne-based selector Earl Orlog comes through with - what he calls - a fever dream of a dancefloor. Beguiling flutes, buzzing sitar drones and undefinable psychedelic noises fill the imaginary room with danceable contradictions. Sounds like a party we would absolutely vibe to.

"Square Pegs & Round Holes" is a musical journey just under 2 hours in duration. It's stops are at private pressed French outsider folk, obscure trance with Dick Dale guitar licks, echo-drenched Lofotian postpunk, some Thai comedian going full throttle digi-Belafonte, Italian goth-dub, Ecuadorian Dance Music (EDM) played by a strikingly good-humored Bolivian folklore ensemble, beautifully touching Nigerian expat-Soukous, a song about a man who paid his dues in form of an instrumental reggae cover version and many more tunes from all around the planet...

Here's what I wrote 7 years ago:

I was about to post this beautiful summer mix of Tako with the following words:

"What do you expect from a mix when it's done by a supernice guy with an excellent taste in music and a wonderful record collection? Yeah and that's exactly what you get here. Also make sure to get a copy of the first 12" of the Sombrero Galaxy, released on Lovefingers long awaited ESP Institute. Sombrero Galaxy is the collabo between Tako and Jonny Nash and their "Journey to the center of the sun" is one of my favourite releases of the last years, cheers!"

That was yesterday. In the meantime something terrible happened. Tako's friend Petros Malevis from Athens passed away without a warning. This mix is dedicated to Petros! He will be missed. Rest in peace, Petros.

After a prolonged break, our podcast is back with the long-awaited 150 episode! Our special guest co-founded @beachfreaksrecords and has one of the deepest collections of obscure vinyl from the 1970s and 1980s in Europe. His passion turned into one of my fave compilations this year, Club Meduse on Spacetalk, 13 hazy, soft-focus and life-affirming cuts that you would have heard at resort discos in the mid-to-late 1980s. His last mix dated 2015, so we’re here to listen something really special. Turn on your heaters as we’re headed down south one last time this year. Lush, humid jungles, red emeralds and purple sunsets. The Balearic Islands, the Côte D’Azur, the Greek Cyclades, Africa, Japan, the Brazilian rainforest and a quick dance in Miami.
