This song brought about so many fears, thoughts, and raw emotions as a man I often not sit back and simmer upon.. I kept breaking down trying to record it and this was the best take I got.. A culmination of many months of internal conflict that spilled out all of a sudden over the course of two days as I thought about things I wish to teach my son one day.. things that aren't always spoken out loud.. & some revelations I wish I had known sooner in life.. Part of it is mourning my own childhood, the other simultaneously celebrating the birth of my own child.. I just hope these words mean something to him one day & I get the time to show him what it means to live 'em.
