This is a piece from the Antillean Dances book by Wim Statius Muller. It was given to me by a friend and I decided to learn to play the music. It's beautiful and melodic music.

Tristeza

A solo piano interpretation of Antônio Carlos Jobim’s Desafinado — equal parts tribute, exploration, and quiet rebellion.

I open with Jobim’s original intro from the Inédito album (his private, unreleased sessions), keeping that delicate harmonic ambiguity intact before wandering into more personal territory.

The piece closes with a fade — a quasi-classical reimagining of the opening melody, like the ghost of a theme revisiting itself in a different room.

Recorded in one take, with all the imperfections left in. Just how Jobim would’ve liked it. Hopefully.
