Landing on Kryptox, the 4th record by Spiritczualic Enhancement Center is a head-haunting tapestry woven with the colors of music by 18 artists originating from Iraq, Iran, Israel, Germany, Russia, USA, Japan, Turkey, Poland, Macedonia, Montenegro, Philippines, Moldova, Romania, Czechia, Denmark, and England.

A mandalic Carpet dwelled on the floor of the Ottoman dome which these spectral jazz disciples once squatted in ancient Jerusalem. Since their expulsion they’ve carried the rug as a relic housing its disembodied ghost, laying it out in temporally shifting sonic destinations.

Communicating the expansive mystical attitudes recorded in Capitals and Countrysides, the Carpet Album is the spontaneous evolution born from their omphalos, the navel that spiraled into the tentative topology of the Enhancement and “Enhancement” Center.

An atmospheric serving of tripped-out Levantine tea which your mother could sometimes enjoy, it's as if the Carpet has crashed the workshop of Jazz Doctors Lloyd Miller & Lonnie Liston Smith.

Their Astral library is overflowing with a sorcerous fusion of Venus-funk and Saturn-progressions, an elusive electric universe enchanted by the apprentices as they ponder planetary instability and cosmic upheaval.

A luxuriant alien sound-mosaic is welcoming the Space Age, Getting Up with Returning to Forever - by Departing to Nowhere. How does it do it? Well.. it really ties the room together.

R.I.O. welcomes Pieter Kock aka DJ Peacock, one of the guiding souls behind the Berlin based bar/micro club O Tannenbaum. Musically active since 1986 as singer, guitarist, drummer and noisemaker, Peter already released a string of albums under different aliases like Billie and Ballie, The Hitmachine and Taladu.  Since the early 1990s he narrates haunting sonic stories as a DJ, playing a vast palette of styles - from cosmic and leftfield techno to tape experiments, sound-art, wave, world, jazz, punk, industrial, and all that weird pop music. Last year saw him liberating his first solo recordings under his civil name as a cassette tape named “Flocks & Murders of Entitled Spirits”, dropped by the Berlin/Vilnius based label Musikii. It unreels twelve sensitive tunes, made with the help of online synths and drum computers, Youtube travel- and talk show-videos or samples from Youtube synths- and rhythm box-demonstration videos. Now he refined his idiosyncratic style of music crafting a bit deeper and shares “Facial Recognition” – a gently twisted album that unites hypnagogic pop, library dances, cosmic funk, leftfield grooves and experimental sonic zones under one roof. His seven found sound tunes are layering a rhizomatic veil of unidentifiable web sounds, all transmuted into hazy looped ambiances, that trigger unconscious brain activities with future samples from the past, woven rhythm structures and a simultaneity of moments, derived from myriad world wide web informations. When it’s true, that nothing can have value without being an object of utility, then Pieter Kock managed to give the internet a new rate while using its manyfold informations as a tool to create art. Art, whose originality isn’t defined by the creator’s playful virtuosity. Instead, his sensibility of deciphering unheard rhythms, harmonies, and melodies in an avalanche of prefabricated ideas is his mastery. Pieter Kock transformed them into unfamiliar compositions with a familiar touch, that can evoke the feeling of being synchronous in a world of the many. A data rain without drops, a stream of consciousness without cognizance. Come in, drop out.

O.S.S. (Open Sound System) is a new collaborative project from music producers @unknown-mobile and @napmusick  
A product of friendship, O.S.S. was made by Daniel Rincon and Levi Bruce over a course of impromptu studio sessions and hangouts between Canadian coasts. O.S.S. The EP features five suites, which aim to invoke “god rays,” - the rays of sunlight that are amplified by the passing of clouds at dusk. Luminous, deep and subtle tones mimic crepuscular light in a way that feels cinematic and spiritual. We’re happy to premiere the second suite on the EP, "Blanga," a meandering sweet tune, featuring a collage of samples, synths, Romplers and VSTs.

On March 5th, Ongehoord is releasing the concluding album of the Deadline Paranoia trilogy; Deadline Paranoia 3/3. The final set of rereleased psychedelic sounds that complete the oeuvre of the 1980s Amsterdam based band. Jeroen Vermandere, the person behind Ongehoord, discovered the band during his thorough search of Dutch cassettes and 1980s cassette culture and presents us this carefully selected triptych, taking the listener on quite a trip. 3/3 starts with a guttural exhalation, a celestial moan, setting the tone of the rest of the album - from there on the hot stickiness of dub oozes into the listener's ears, followed by ancestral percussion, rolling guitar riffs, and the nomadic sounds of the melodica. Deadline Paranoia 3/3 is light-hearted and suffocating all at once; the meditative rhythms cradle you back and forth while an array of peculiar sounds passes by, alluding to the band’s delusional name.The record comes with an inlay presenting the original artwork that Deadline Paranoia used for their cassettes, capturing a dichotomy that is recognizable in their music; a sensitivity towards the spiritual placed alongside anarchic violence. You will be taken on a surreal journey, timeless sounding beats are accompanied by wailing instruments, the atmosphere is thick and heavy with smoke.
