Canadian production duo Smalltown DJs take the guest spot on this episode of Dirtybird Radio with a selection of hot new summer jams -- including their brand new collaboration with Joanna Magik, "Energy" featuring Techno Tupac.

Many will agree that when you’re looking to get the party started and need tunes to get the job done right, throwing on some bass house is the best route to go. Hordes of outstanding artists have been cropping up on labels like Night Bass, looking to put their unique variation on the genre. Burgeoning producer NuBass is chief among them. His tunes, characterized by punchy kicks and snares alongside commanding basslines, are taking over dancefloors with increasing velocity.

Over the course of his career thus far, NuBass has grown notable for his mind-melting bassline and bass house cuts. Look to some of his earlier tracks like “Meltdown” and “Evidence” with Dread MC for proof of his unrelenting beats and ferocious production style. Alternatively, check out some of his releases with Night Bass. His 2019 EPs Fuego and Supreme as well as more recent singles “Toxic” and “Noisy” testify to his aptitude behind the decks by staying on heavy rotation to this day. He even formed his own record label, The Archives, where he’s recruited other up-and-coming artists to lend their production talent.

If you’re just recently hopping on the NuBass train, you might recognize his name from his recent appearance on Night Bass label boss AC Slater‘s June album Together. The two producers, along with Kaleena Zanders, collaborated on the wicked “Lose My Mind,” which quickly became a fan favorite of the album and found its way into house sets far and wide. Now, NuBass is back again with another collaboration, this time with Michael Sparks. The two put their creative minds together on “Magic Carpet” which boasts a hearty dose of in-your-face bass and striking drums.

In light of this recent release, NuBass put together a banging, bass-fueled house mix for us. To make matters even better, he sat down with us to talk about how he got started making electronic music, how he grew into his current sound, and plenty more. Vancouver-based duo No Thanks has carved out a distinct space for themselves within the house scene, and it's all rooted in their desire to subvert conventions and expectations. The Canadian producers will be the first ones to tell you that when it comes to setting yourself apart as an artist in the music industry, you've got to cultivate a sound that is representative of who you are, not who others want you to be. As a result of the work they've put into creating their unique persona, the two have reaped a meteoric rise to the top in only the past few years.

To understand what the No Thanks sound is all about, you first have to get familiar with the trademark genre that they've coined Polite House. Characterized by a crossover of house genres mixed with a whole lot of energy, Polite House is emblematic of everything the pair stands for - innovation, individuality, and insanely good beats. Those in the scene looking for fresh, funky beats and an overall great time should have Codes on their radar. This New York-based artist has risen through the ranks of the scene over the years, championing tech and bass house and providing a twist of breaks along the way. Whether he's gracing the stage at festivals and clubs or landing releases on labels like Farris Wheel, Box Of Cats, Night Bass, and his own Holy Molé, you can't help but get swooped right up and sucked into his infectious style.

This year has seen Codes continue to foster surreal vibes in the scene and bring his positive vibes that shine brighter than the sun, even while dealing with his lung collapsing in the midst of his summer run. Not only has he played in cities like Denver, Albuquerque, Miami, and NYC, but he's dropped some gems as well. February saw him deliver the breaks-fueled "Beats Up" to the masses before he leaned back into tech house with "I'm Dead" in May. Then, in July, he dropped one of his hottest tunes to date that rapidly climbed the Beatport Charts, "Gas Station," which saw him team up with Q The Music and honor his family's legacy along the way.

Now, as Codes says goodbye to the warmer months of summer and hello to the cooler fall months, he's gifted us with a mix that's chock-full of quality tunes. "Playing with a handful of new sounds in this mix," he said. "Of course, I also had to include some big ones I've been playing over the last few months. Next up is Phoenix and Portland!" Trick or treat! Dirtybird Radio host Victoria Rawlins brings on the Halloween season with the first of three demented episodes. Brazil is one of the most vibrant countries on the planet, with its gorgeous beaches, beautiful rainforests, delicious culinary treats, and stunning festivals. But if you take a closer look, you'll find an electronic music scene that is just as brilliant and filled with artists pushing the boundaries of their sound and moving crowds along the way. Ciszak is one of those artists, and he continues to stake his claim on the scene with each passing year.

This time around, Ciszak looked to Hotel Garuda to bring a new track to life, and when these two creatives put their minds together, "U GOT 2" was born. This bouncy tech house gem landed on Space Yacht Records, which recently celebrated its third anniversary, and brings a rave-fueled ambiance right from the jump.
