Artist: The Open Circle [Greyscale / Crossfade Sounds/ Axaminer / OHM Series / ODrex]

Our 17th Frontier journey comes from Belgian producer Geert Thirry better known as - The Open Circle. We have been big fans of The Open Circle since we discovered his music a few years ago. He is an incredible producer and very versatile artist, who’s music can span from deep ambient soundscapes, to low slung chuggy dub techno all the way up to full dance floor fist pumping Techno. His production is mostly done using a Modular synthesizer and some other hardware. Then Layered textures and evolving rhythms are built to define the signature style with analog warmth and hypnotic depth.  

Geert has been producing music for many years, His first EP was actually released back in 2003 on the UK label ” Lost Language “as a double vinyl. Released under the alias Karada the release was more in the melodic Techno sphere. Since then his style and sound has developed into the deep Dub Techno he is known for today. His productions have been gathering more and more acclaim with his recent release on the legendary Greyscale placing him firmly towards to the top echelons of the Dub Techno world. 

We are honoured to be able to welcome Geert to the Dub Explorations and Frontier family and look forward to hearing his future productions.

Mario Lauriano is a Naples-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer, and vinyl collector whose musical identity bridges deep house roots with immersive dub techno aesthetics. With over a decade of experience in Berlin’s underground scene and a musical lineage inherited from his father — a former radio DJ — Lauriano brings a timeless, analog-focused approach to modern electronic music.

Starting behind the decks at just 15, Lauriano’s early sound was shaped by the vibrant Neapolitan underground, blending deep house, groove-driven selections, and soulful textures. Upon relocating to Berlin, his artistic vision evolved, gravitating towards more hypnotic, minimal, and dub-influenced techno — a natural progression shaped by the city’s rich sonic landscape.
Renowned for his vinyl-only DJ sets, Mario crafts deep, narrative-driven performances that
move effortlessly between genres and energies. His sets are a steady build — always intentional, atmospheric, and emotionally engaging — where warm analog textures meet intricate rhythms.
Over the years, he has performed in some of Berlin’s most respected clubs, including Renate,
Arena Club, and About Blank.

As a producer, Lauriano has released music on internationally recognized labels such as Axaminer Records, Ohm Series, and Crossfade Sounds, with a style rooted in depth, space, and sonic clarity. In 2019, he founded Airual Recordings, a Berlin-based imprint dedicated to minimalist, analog-driven electronic music — serving as a creative platform for his own productions and other like-minded artists.
Driven by authenticity and musical depth, Mario Lauriano offers more than just club music — he curates experiences. With each performance, he invites listeners into a personal, evolving
soundscape that transcends trends and resonates with substance.

I'm a lab-rat. gear-head. Composer of sonic explorations. Seeker of tone and frequency. Patcher of modules. Twiddler of knobs. Bender of strings. Programmer of sequences. Lover of all things that oscillate, resonate and reverberate.

My main instrument is a Eurorack Modular synthesizer comprised of approximately 70 modules. My favourites include modules from Frap Tools Instruō, Intellijel, and Xaoc Devices. I use a 16-channel Line converter from nw2s to get modular signals into my DAW.
My main polysynths are an UDO Super6 and a Sequential Prophet Rev2.
Production tools are Bitwig with an Ableton Push 2, with two Universal Audio and Focusrite AD converters; and plugins from GForce/Oberheim, Waldorf, UAD, Valhalla DSP, Plugin Alliance, Eventide, Softube, and Roland.
I also compose with electric guitars and basses, Toontrack Superior Drummer, and various Brazilian samba percussion.
