Während andere ihre Zeit vor der Konsole oder auf dem Bolzplatz verbrachten, schlug sein Herz bereits für technoide Sounds, lange Nächte und das Fusion Festival. Zusammen mit seinem Cousin gründete er im Studium, gemäß dem Motto „We are young and want to make a record“, das Label Lochmann Records. Bebetta, KlangTherapeuten, Marlon Hoffstadt, Melokind, Nils Hoffmann, Renga Weh, Robin Schulz: nur einige Namen, die unweigerlich mit der Plattenfirma verbunden sind. Es folgten DJ-Bookings von Hamburg bis Kamien Pomorski (Polen), von Rostock bis Magdeburg sowie eigene Labelnights und -openairs in Berlin und an der Ostsee. Seit 2015 steht er neben Carlo Ruetz und Nico Pusch regelmäßig als Resident im Schuetzenhouse Marlow hinter den Turntables. Es erwartet den/der Zuhörer/in eine Mischung aus Tech House und Techno, mal hart treibend, mal sanft fühlend, aber immer mit Rhythmus. 🖤

CHCKRS, aka Tom Dent, is a composer, producer, DJ, and educator. With a Masters in music composition, he has delved into the forms, techniques, complex sound worlds of contemporary classical music, composing story-led music from solo instrumental works to opera and award-winning orchestral pieces. In 2014, he became an Editor at Faber Music, where he edited and critiqued the most ambitious scores by some of the world’s best contemporary composers.

His passion for education and love for electronic music brought him to the start-up FutureDJs where he spent the last 2 years enabling the introduction of DJ-ing into primary and secondary music education in the UK. Tom co-authored the Faber-published book “FutureDJs: How to DJ”, and pioneered the first ever graded DJ exams accredited by London College of Music Examinations, released in 2020.

With his moniker CHCKRS, he explores the techno-sphere, electronica and glitch-hop. Anything from thundering syncopated grooves to catchy melodic hooks and wonky left-field harmonies.

After drifting 20 years from one electronic music genre to the other, I finaly found my final destination. I create undeground techno music inspired unique abstract paintings and visualizations. My mission is to create a new culture where electronic music connects to art.
