The story of "See" is metamorphic. The track emerged instrumentally — as per Tycho’s characteristic output — on the 2014 LP Awake. Months later it was remixed into a bubbling pop song by New York duo Beacon. 2017 brought the next phase, as Beacon's Thomas Mullarney III joined Tycho at Coachella to perform "See" (the first time the band has ever featured a vocalist). Now “See” has reached its final stage, re-recorded as a proper collaboration. Tycho touchstones abound, swirling melodies, stuttering percussion, lifted by a voice in flight.

When The Sun Bursts

"Free" channels inspiration from my grandfather who grew up in the Faroe Islands. He told me stories of the amazing land, how they climbed cliffs to get bird eggs, and would go fishing out at sea. "Free" aims to capture this feeling of adventure and openness in a song. The remix by @marley-carroll does an amazing job at capturing the elements of the original but taking it to a new danceable space. The driving beat, syncopated synthesizers, and fresh vocal chops make for an exciting new listen.

From the remixing artist, "For the "Free" remix, I borrowed a technique from house music in which uptempo songs are pitched down by a few semitones and reworked as slow-motion boogie edits. This process created a new stretched-out feel that inspired me to build a hazy, chilled-out instrumental around the original vocal." - Marley Carroll
