Exclusive: Grant Dell - Intoxication

Leipzig based label Long Vehicle, run by Sevensol and Marc Schnubber, is back with a reference EP to the current strange times called DM Me When It's Over. The Kann Records co-founder Alex Neuschulz alias Sevensol curated four tracks for the label's 2021 kick-off with works from Lara, Carmel & Salomo, Edward and UK scene mainstay Grant Dell. The latter contributes Intoxication to the V/A EP, a track that has been slumbering on some of his old DATs – amongst other tracks – for quite some time and explains the artist's excursion into a more tech-housey direction as the present Grant Dell mainly focuses on Dub/ Reggae productions. However, Intoxication seems to have this timelessness other takes from the artists also do and therefore fits perfectly into current DJ(streamed)-sets. A rather lush, groovey and enriched with percussions bass line pushes the listener right into the track or let's say makes the track start in media res. A subtle and evenly chord boosts the groover even more until the listener is given a short breather with a little and the track well-fitting short sequence of keys before the initially introduced loop carries one throughout the track. 

DM Me When It's Over will be released on Long Vehicle on April 9th, 2021.

Roughion delve deep into their classical music memory with the release of Play Piano out on Hotwire (date TBD).  
 
Following on from their acidic releases of 2021 so far (Polarize - Mr Phormula Roughion Remix [Mr Phormula Records] and Living For Free - Shamoniks Roughion Remix [bandcamp exclusive]) this is their first original release of this year and takes deep dives into their musical history from Steffan’s classical background and Gwion’s DJing background. Play Piano subtly hints at Darude Sandstorm from the rolling baselines whilst simultaneously having an aura of mystery and class from the grand piano. Play Piano can be enjoyed at home or in a club environment as seen in Roughion’s DJ set for BBC Wales last summer. With more and more releases Roughion hone in on a signature sound and Play Piano plants itself right in the middle of what Roughion aim to achieve.

Light Darkens Upon Us EP is a euphoric psychedelic experience, with each track taking the listener on their own sonic journey. Levantine love for electronics grew from a young age. Through solid arrangements and solid programming, this single becomes a vehicle for reverential music that manages to spill out enough ideas from the artist himself to shake off the high era, allowing it to exist in its own right as credible.

In addition, the album is accompanied by remixes by artists of the stature of David Garcet and Bonnie Spacey, who add power and affirm that desired return to the dance floor.

The Cycles Of Nature, the A2 of the EP, comes in with a fusion of Breakbeat-elements and a Deep House synth-line luring or rather soaking the listener into a world where melodies delightfully charm one's mind  over and over again as Piermattei enriches the track's main loop with various nuances and varieties of accompanying bleepy or cosmic sounds that make one re-experience the same experience differently each time one hears it – like an infinite cycle of nature you neither want nor do want to get out of.

Michel Baumann's second release on 18437 is using his Soulphiction moniker and while 2021 is still young, he manages to pull off the one of the best house tracks so far with the opening track Ballin' The phrase 'top-shelf material' springs to mind for sure.
