1. What made you decide that you want to start producing?

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My mom signed my up for Bollywood dance classes when I was little, so the love of dance has always been a part of me. I really began my journey with electronic music while I was a sophomore at UC Berkeley I was a wall flower business major and music was one of my only real outlets to show I could “fit in”. I was the guy on the aux cord every weekend until I taught myself how to Dj and ultimately began making music. It’s been such an incredible journey of self discovery so far.


2. Why did you pick this song of all songs to remix? Any special place in your heart for the Gorillaz? (I mean who doesn't love the Gorillaz?)

This has always been one of my favorite songs. When I was in music school at Icon in LA the Gorillaz headlined Outsidelands Fest (2017) a San Francisco based music festival. I ended up sneaking onto stage just in time to watch the Gorillaz perform this song live to a crowd of 100,000+ people. The song has never sounded the same and as a result was stuck in my head for weeks, months, years even. Fast forward to a few months ago when this bootleg was written I was at the peak of a new relationship that was healing so many old wounds. On Melancholy Hill was my top played song of 2019 shout out Spotify algorithmic playlists.  It all made sense it was the fastest I’d ever written a song.

4. Drop some wisdom, any advice to the producers just breaking out into the scene?

I was never a musician in the classical sense music theory is something I still battle with on a regular basis. What I will say is that somewhere along the way I’ve learned to trust my ear more than anything and it’s gotten me some really interesting results (not all of them have worked). So I suppose trust your ear, and make music every day. The results won’t always be a number a song or even an idea that you like. Trust the process and laugh at yourself ALL THE TIME. 


5. Tell us more about Boiz House and what you got going on!

I get giddy even as I write this but Boiz House is literally my everything. I’ve been lucky enough to form a live music dj boy band with my best friends from college and there truly is no other feeling in the world like it. We’ve traveled across most of the west coast and played on some of the biggest stages at the biggest festivals out here together playing music that we’ve been working on in our living room. It’s been a truly joyful and testing experience as an Artist to be thrown into the pits (or backyard pool) of producing for weeks on end with some of your harshest critics but at the end of the day having the time of our life has always been essential to our journey.  If you haven’t heard of Boiz House you definitely will be soon! We start our West Coast Party Tour in Seattle this February so you might catch us in your neighborhood! Stay tuned because we boiz love house, bass, funk, jazz, disco, breaks, hip-hop & everything in between. You’re in for a boogie like no other. 


6. Whats one of your favorite production tips that when you learned it, totally changed the game for you?

LFO + OS2 Drive on the Ableton Auto-filter. 2020 Make Wubs Wubby Again.
