What is depression? what does it feed? what does it feel?
What brings in to the forefront of our steering wheel?
Who lets it drive? Who lets it break us? Or take us?
Who lets it take over our lives and manipulate us?
Why do I abide? Why does it do this? Why does it thrive? 
Why is it not a disease and just coming for the ride?
How can we stop it? How can we break up? Or get away from it?
How can we breathe when we're drowning and undone from it?
Does its life end? Does it stop living? Or go away?
Does it just die and leave us breathing anyway?
Where does it hide? Where are the bruises it leaves behind?
Where are the shackles that bind me to its tortured mind?
How much does it want? How much does it need our pain?
How much does it take from creatives and does it make us insane?
When are we free? When are we ride of it? When is it my turn?
When does it just disappear without a body left to burn? 

Take a pill, have a smoke, laugh or make a joke.
Nothing will seem to work not even this drink in my throat.
Become spiritual, go to the gym, eat healthily, have a swim.
Nothing seems to work not even this blade to my skin.
Get a dog, gets some plants, get some crystals and confidants.
Nothing works still all these bottles I decant.
Go to therapy, get someone to talk to you involuntarily
Talks to you so airily and walks around you so carefully.
This road that I'm going down takes up and brings me down.
What do I do this thing has me with a permanent frown.
A slave in my own body, a mental block where I’m just a hobby.
I feel so far from my friends just like I've been disembodied.
Trust me, I wouldn't want anyone to feel like this. 
I wish I had a child's ignorance and bliss.
Nothing seems to shake this feeling of loneliness.
Even my one true love and all my family and friends.

This silent war that I'm fighting, I just wanted to shed some light in.
People don't understand so their tongues they keep fighting.
It's more common than it seems, as common as leaves on trees.
You can't see anything clearly until you are free or it leaves.
Intelligent people understand too much, stupid people depression won't touch.
All I am trying to do is take its foot off the clutch.
Everything is depressing or I feel numb the hardest thing is to have fun.
Trying to breathe without bursting a lung and only wanting to feel the sun.
This is nothing to be feared it is something to be talked about.
Maybe this is the reason suicide is still thought about.
If it was treated as a disease and not something to be taken with ease. 
Then maybe it wouldn't hard to live with depression and more of an chilly breeze.
What I am saying is I understand and I’m here, for anyone who lives in this fear.
It's ok to shed a tear but fight we must and persevere.
Take a breath and listen hard, for you're not the only one that feels barred.
You are in control of the card so tell it to fuck off and take it off-guard.

What Is Depression?

EJK,
is a acoustic, rock and metal musician with several undergoing projects.
The 20 year old musician is also a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, recording artist, promoter. 
She has three albums recorded from when she was younger, "15 years", "Sweet 16" & "1 in 7" she took time of to focus on her studies and her band but is now planning on playing and recording, an album all by herself. Her old band "Everyone Just Knows" are finished but she currently looking to start up another metal band soon & is looking for all female musicians to get involved. Her promotion company "Future Legends" is based in Surrey and works on giving multiple genre artists the opportunity to work with people of a similar style, target people who would enjoy the  music, find them opportunities & accommodate them with food a place to stay & pay. The main forte of the company so far has been Rock, Metal, Punk and Acoustic Bands.  She is however always  looking for new projects and to get involved with, anything musical even if she focuses on becoming a professional front women.
​Currently she is based in Britain and in University, studying on the Creative Artist Course at the "Academy of Contemporary Music". She is of British birth but raised in Greece also speaks German which makes her trilingual. Real name is Elleni Jean Kempson but most people call her EJ. She has a very strong humanitarian background due to her parents "Eric & Philippa Kempson" and volunteered on the Island of Lesvos for several years after she left the music school of Mytilene she decided to focus on the thousands of refugees landing on the shores of Europe and continues to do loads of charity events, talks about her experience being the youngest volunteer there for so long & attends conferences to try and better the situation. She has also played at multiple charity events for other causes such as Anti Bullying, Mental Health Awareness and LGBTQ support. Vegetarian although she wishes she could be Vegan but loves honey to much. Animal lover and gets very easily distracted by dogs. With a love for whiskey and good cocktails. Loves traveling the world with a backpack and a guitar, Has currently played all over the UK, in Greece, several places in Germany, Norway and has more coming up soon such as Sweden and France. Her music she would describe as a perfect combination between fiery rebellion and vegan cupcakes.
