I am a singer songwriter producer from the North West in the  UK.....I love Jazz and Soul...in fact  all music brings me joy!, My music has had mainstream play on The BBC music app  on The Sun Lounge  show with Adam Dunning and BBC introducing  in Manchester with “ Roesh”  Jazz FM Curved Radio in Australia  and  KJazz radio UK . My music career began at the age of 6 when I received a guitar from my parents. I learned two chords and formed my first band. Our equipment was a puppet piano, two washing drums and a guitar. Between the ages of 12 and 15 I played in several bands with friends. Big role models were Jimi Hendrix, Doors, Janis Joplin, Alwin Lee etc. I was mainly influenced by Krautrock bans like Can, Groschnitt and Eloy. In the meantime I was able to improvise a few barre chords, mainly using the blues scale. But practicing was never my thing. So I automatically only progressed a step further when I liked a new riff. Music has always been an integral part of my work with children and people with disabilities. In 1990 I founded the band “Kroklowafzi” with friends, and later I played in the “Karl Grass Companie” purely for the joy of music, without any professional ambitions (audio samples are available on YouTube on my SoundCloud channel). During this time I had the opportunity to record my music in multiple tracks for the first time. Everything was still very amateurish and chaotic. After a divorce, I ended up on the streets and went into a psychotic episode. I now had 6 children to support but couldn't work. During this time, my brother gave me a music program that I could use to remaster my recordings from the last few years.

Influenced by Soul music from an early age Laura Leigh grew up listening to the likes of Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys and Joss Stone. Also being a big fan of Pop Music, this has led to creating her own style that she calls “Soul with a Pop twist”. Being part of a roadshow, Laura Leigh performed across many festivals and events throughout the Northwest gaining a lot of attention along the way. Entering local competition Urban Idol Laura Leigh won an award for artist with the most potential to succeed in the industry presented by Richard Blackwood. She was then picked out from the crowd by 70s soul group The Real Thing and went on to support the group for at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Writing her own original songs, she has also previously been featured as BBC’s unsigned artist of the month and received radio play on Radio1Xtra and BBC Merseyside where she performed live on air. Laura is currently a finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition with her song Empty Sheets.
