"It felt very special to be playing to people again, after so long, in a location like Tisno and with so many other great artists playing across the weekend. A lot of us had been waiting a long time for something like this. I played around sunset at the Nest on Friday. The set was a lot of fun and I felt like I had the freedom to go wherever I wanted to go with it. There is a moment in the Philipp Otterbach track that I played where it goes silent and there is just a female vocal talking, and at that moment it felt like the whole of the Nest was locked into what she was saying. From there, we knew everyone was on the same wavelength and the energy for the rest of the set was amazing."

When British Airways got privatized and listed on the London Stock Exchange, somewhere in Canada the first Starbucks outside of the US opened, and the Walt Disney Company signed an agreement with the French Prime Minister to construct Disneyland Paris. In the sky above southern Argentina, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, northern Somalia, and the Atlantic Ocean a hybrid solar eclipse materialized for 7.57 seconds, whilst Margaret Thatcher performed for 45-minutes on Soviet television. Some days later, The Simpsons cartoon first appears as a series of shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show, Diego Maradona wins his first Italian soccer championship with Napoli, and Eighteen-year-old West German pilot Mathias Rust lands a private plane on Red Square in Moscow. In the mists of the world's first conference on artificial life at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Mainland China opens in Beijing, and Prozac gets approved for use as an antidepressant in the United States. Much give way for the future, down there in 1987, the year that marks the title of Benedikt Frey’s freshest mini album, out into the world on R.i.O., the label he runs with some pals in the North of Berlin. It’s a dubby melancholic conqueror, wistfully, repetitive, drilling, absorbing, spooking. It makes you dream. Not particular of the year 1987. But it’s all there: The Red Square, the untouched land of the Val d'Europe, Diego on fuego. Six dark-ish tracks in trance, melancholic dub, downbeat heaven, journey music depths, all full of light and yet so dark. Futuristic dramas linked to a speculative past. In our dreams all might look different. The eclipse may last 27-minutes. You meet Neuromancer cyberpunks and blade running Ghost dogs, all taught to hack by Phrack. Cristal clear melodies, sampled voices, and veiled basslines, analogue scopes, and digital ropes, longing for a past that storm into the future. A time where deep listening widens the acoustics into infinity, while neon glows charm the light smog. Benedikt Frey been down there. Or maybe not. His latest music tells stories from the bygone, vested with the forthcoming. Come in and look out. There is nothing to see, yet so much to hear. ML

The final podcast of 2022 comes from the producer, selector and up-and-coming film scorer Poperttelli AKA Jonathan Cambefort. The Frenchman has been active in the scene for more than 7 years, co-running the cassette-focused label Maturre in Berlin as well as releasing full EPs on Brokntoys, Lost Dogs Entertainment, and dozen of singles and remixes on other platforms. With a keen ear for melody, Poperttelli’s versatile vision can seamlessly bring together anything from grubby electro or industrial EBM to hypnotic or even funky drifts. Poperttelli’ DT podcast 198 is full of well-executed changes of style and tone as well as evocative soundscapes, shaping up a great listening experience in the midst of the current winter gloominess. We've also spoken with the artist about his upbringing, post-pandemic thoughts and music ventures.

Welsh born, Birmingham-based DJ/producer Trieste explores the strange & psychedelic fringes of dance music; meandering through downtempo chug and beatless soundscapes, to euphoric breaks, psychedelic techno and weighty bass sounds. No genre or tempo is off-limits. 

With a curious desire to explore new frontiers within the music community he's also positioned himself as a founding force in a number of other creative projects. His event brand Voyage Events has brought unique live shows and DJ sets to cities across the UK, working with artists like HAAi, Zaltan, Om Unit, Moxie, Mehmet Aslan, Sofia Kourtesis and Daniel Avery to name a few. And as co-founder of Birmingham-London based label Erbium Records, working alongside fellow DJ/producer Jay Carder and graphic designer Oliver Green, Trieste helps support and curate a wide variety of leftfield club sounds and cinematic audio projects from the likes of Mani Festo, Zobol, Manami, Pluralist, Mincy, An Avrin and more.

Hambourg’s electro duo Fallbeil composed by Wosto and Kluentah, is still pretty unknown despite they’ve been  releasing a bunch of EP and a couple of LP on label like Mannequin, Killekill sub-label Boidae or New York Haunted and more recently on their own label Teerpappe to name a few. Wosto, long time Macadam Mambo’s collaborater (Danzas Electricas vol. 2 & 3), sent us demos of what sounds very like « what Drexciya would realease on Bunker Records », a compilation of irresistible dark atmospheres slow electro tunes with very raw textures, complemented by few little skits to generate a brilliant album around the story of the Mockturtle. It’s rought as it should be ! And ! Little TIP for gabber’s heads dj, some tracks can be played in 45rpm check « No Go Area » and « Rackelhahn » it makes it worth ;)

Tagliabue's meticulous musical research reflects his Italian roots and traditions, resulting in a unique blend of ancestral sounds, ambient and trance elements, and contemporary electronic techniques. His releases for esteemed labels such as Sound Metaphors, Invisible Inc., Elephant Gait Music, and Lustpoderosa are a testament to his refined and evocative musical style.

In 2020, Joseph founded Blue Sea Studio, his home for the production and sound design of contemporary music and original soundtracks, located in Milan. 

His newest mix takes listeners on a cosmic journey, exploring uncharted territories of sound and emotion, that's always different yet unmistakably his own.

Théo Muller has played a key role in the French electronic scene for the past decade as a co-founder of the Midi Deux parties and label in Bretagne, a former resident DJ and curator at La Machine du Moulin Rouge in Paris, the label manager of Krakzh or more recently as the line-up curator of La Ferme de Quincé (a farm and cultural venue in Rennes).

Putting his Breton origins at the forefront of his work, the talented DJ also established himself as a sharp producer in 2018 on the Concrete label with an EP hailed by Laurent Garnier, Chloé and Move D. He also contributed on Lumière Noire, Vastechoses, Worst Records, Eddy Larkin, Grid, Rutilance, Dôme from Astropolis and on his imprint: Krakzh.

That’s where he released in 2020 his first album “Gouzanv Pe Unanin” including featurings with Antoine from Positive Education and Swiss artist NVST. His journey with NVST began here, they later developed a strong spiritual connection that led to the release of their upcoming LP in March 2023 on Pensaments Sonics, subdivision of Hivern Discs.

In the meantime, he started a French electro punk band with two friends called “Dalle Béton” that will be on tour this summer and which was an undeniable highlight of the 2022 Transmusicales festival.

Able to play at any time and for hours, he has his own way of captivating the crowds though sets compiled of dub, techno and rock. From friendly raves in Bretagne to Dimensions or Montreux Jazz Festival, he knows how to have a special time with the dancers.

Berlin-based MINOU ORAM [LYL / Cereals / THF Radio] is a DJ and producer blending music over many decades and styles between meditative serenity and dazing temper in quest of evoking catharsis through sound. In her boundless sets, she draws upon a wealth of musical influences roaming through the abysses of abstract electronica, cosmic and tribal timbres, industrial post-disco, alienated pop,  personal field recordings, and more. 

In 2016 she founded the FEMDEX project to promote gender diversity in electronic music, since 2017 she hosts the bimestrial show SVVENIR on the French radio station LYL and in 2022 she joined CEREALS, a collaborative practice for music, art and design.
