After the emergence of last year's diverse 12 track various artist album, Codonopsis, we are stoked to be back with our second VA release - Rumex. What awaits you this time are another 14 uncompromising tracks from artists based within and beyond Swiss ground - a project that has taken shape quite literally from all over the globe in more ways than one. Musically, it spans wide from ambient to experimental, noise, electro, breaks and techno - inviting you into an introspective, eerie kind of realm without losing the groove that pushes you right back out again. On a personal and collective level, its been an intense year with a heavy dose of pain and suffering, Rumex leans into this melancholia, journeying between the light and the dark in what can only be explained as a sonic catharsis.

It is essential to the existence of language and the emergence of social meaning. Intersubjectivity shapes our lives and minds as our lives and minds shape our intersubjective experience. It’s the interchange of thoughts and feelings, both conscious and unconscious, between two subjects - facilitated by empathy. The existence, nature, and meaning of things is not entirely up to the individual but subject to social and linguistic constraints within a culture or subculture. These are the very constraints that filter our apprehension of the world.

There is an old primal feeling which seems to emanate from Aleksandr L. As a youngster he used to love sharing tapes amongst his friends and family: sharing is caring… Maybe music served as some form of escapism to the cold and grey Lithuanian weather?

His next step and natural evolution from analog to digital gave place to a podcast series: Electric Shapes. Another remedy in the form of music which eventually turned into the label of the same name, thanks to his partner in crime Jokios Kulturos’s prolific contributions. The sound of Electric Shapes is clearly aimed at an open minded dancefloor bridging the long gone days of alternative raves with the clubs of today. Amongst a continuous (broken) beat the catalogue is also peppered with some more downtempo and relaxed tunes which are a perfect partner to the end of the night or the start of a new day. The main purpose being to spread the love and bring peace through sound: Music is the cure.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been very passionate about music. From a young age I listened to tons of different and weird genres, like black metal, grind core, etc. As I got older, I embarked on a rollercoaster of discovering electronic music. Yet, I refused to make music, because I loved listening to it too much.

My journey only began when I went drinking with a good friend who lives over the street from my place. In his living room, beneath some other gear, I discovered an OP-1 covered in dust and asked him jokingly, if I could borrow it for a while. He happily agreed. The next day I powered up the somewhat supernatural but logically designed toy and got stuck into the manuals. This machine changed my whole outlook on life and taught me a lot about abstract thinking and the interconnectedness of things. Since 2018 I’ve been putting most of my energy into getting deeper and deeper in to making electronic music.
