Two years after our last V/A, we're back with the first opus of our ‘Vapordub’ imprint series. Another artifact rising from the depths of the leftfield music scene, this time focused on contemporary psychedelics.
Highly inspired by the textures of the vaporwave sonic aesthetic, our 16-track compilation displays in turns intriguing sound design, graceful synths from a new age, weird exotics and psychoactive slow-dubs.

Designed to please either curious or skilled ears, our various paves the way for a 90-minute mind wandering in distant, fantasized realms. Featuring renowned international artists, up and coming French projects and obscure aliases in the likes of A Strange Wedding & Camille Claire Olympie, Alieno deBootes, Babau, Bouti, Dean O’Brien Resorts, Dylan Henner, Georgia, Giant Grouper, Herbarium, Horn Chants, Jonnnah, Naomie Klaus, Nuke Watch, Polonius, Salamanda and Vica Pacheco.

'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

Vortex (Mr. TC Remix)

Oscura Resistentia, Mysteriously oscillating between downtempo, cosmic-disco, library, alternative melodies, psychedelic rock, synth-pop and dub, Oscura Resistencia also turns to darker worlds with post-punk, new-wave or techno accents. Through a ballad with varied and moody electronic vapors, she explores the limits of the balance between softness and darkness. A good soup of often unclassifiable elements simmered with love and sometimes surprising.

I have been knowing Schönfeld for many years already and following his musical output. It took a while until we found seven new songs from him for you. Now we are back with a little journey that takes you from hidden castles to the Mecklenburgian countryside, from a family party deep into the jungle and under the water. It all ends with a slow and beautiful song where he finally plays his trumpet again. 

The other side of the tape shows you the danceable side of Kadent - „a cute producer from Berlin with original Berliner Schnauze“. It starts with three of his dub techno songs followed by the summer hit Polarity. He then shows you how to have fun with relaxed drum ’n’ bass. Doctor Ballerton is really slow but energetic in its own way and Synthetic Substitution brings back the summer and lets me want to dance outside again.
