Zonned vol.1 Compilation is the first release of Zonned, a label created by Gnoomes, which focuses on releasing mainly ambient music.

Sasha Piankov, the label owner asked his friends all over the world to create an ambient piece which could serve as a mental supporting base for daily life and everyone’s approach was different! The sonic palette of the compilation is diverse: from modern new age to downtempo, from 12-minute kosmische journey’s to 4 min ethereal sketches.

Zonned vol.1 comes in digital format. There are 11 tracks from a vast array of contemporary artists. It features Landing, Highland Spokesman, Mariam, Inturist, Varvara, J.Zunz, Midas Rex, Sasha Piankov, Of Mist, KIKOK, Droneweapon. 

Sportif by KIKOK is the first single from the compilation. This track is a reminiscence of running alongside the river. The swirling pad changes and moves slowly and when a distant reverberated bass starts to kick in, one begins to feel the ground more even. The scenery is changing yet you’re staying with an inner peace with yourself.

Giuseppe Leonardi is set to release an eclectic assortment of leftfield Pop, Balearic infused House and other oddball synth experiments on Unsure. It follows off the back of appearances on Music From Memory affiliated offshoot Second Circle.

Bed of Roses returns with a new release from dear friend Not Branimir.

Not Branimir is the new project from Byrd Out label boss Stephen Vitkovitch. The ‘Asquith Window’ EP is the culmination of work over a series of snatched moments between childcare, a part-time job, and running the label - ‘windows’ if you like. Underpinned by Roland's legendary 808 Drum Machine, the overlaying 303, Kaossilator, and more, the tracks celebrate the possibility of creation using freely available tools. Stephen called in a favour with Byrd Out artist, Greek electronic wizard Anatolian Weapons, to remix the title track, and his ‘Acid Take’, replete with added chanting, is a proper chug daddy!

Pour ce 8ème volet, j'ai le plaisir d'accueillir Camille Durand. Il nous propose ici une heure de House music bien kickée, jouant sur la frontière poreuse avec la techno. Un mix élégant, intense et consistant à écouter sur de belles enceintes pour qui souhaite recréer l'ambiance d'un club à 3h du tam.

Two Italians step into the Bordello. Both are armed. Their weapons of choice? The synthesizer sounds of italo, new beat and wave. LVCA and Otis have been raised on the sounds of their homeland, adopting its analogue sound while adapting it to their own style. The result is a brooding mix of addictive lines and vocoder fire. “Ritmo Electronico” opens with a steel-edged snare driving smeared synths through the city dusk, robotic lyrics menace this sleazy neon-stained scene of cracked mirrorballs and flaring machines. Listeners are pulled into the underbelly of A Promise In The Cold Night with the murky “Tanzen”. Alex Vincent’s words are shrouded in glitch, bright burbling bars and a clean clap offering a path of light to help the listener navigate their way. The true coldness of the night arrives with the stabbing keys of “Synthesised Emotion”. Through a haze of hi-hats, an electrical smoke of blacks and greys fizz with juddering volts as passions pour through cable and wire. That haze grows thick in the close. Through a mist of distortion, a “Sphere Of Light” penetrates. Pin-pricks of percussion are dowsed in aquatic tones before a syrup of static is poured across proceedings, lost vocals ghost in this fog of bending bodies and forms.

Kulture Galerie presents the first tape release by The Jaffa Kid as part of the brand new Digital Artefacts series.

The series is an ode to the sound of the 90s, from Electro, IDM and Jungle to further different experimental stuff and sounds. The choice of tape as format seemed fitting for the aesthetic of the series.

The first EP comes from UK based The Jaffa Kid (previously on 030303, Dischi Nottetempo, Gated Recordings and more) and is a solid mixture of Electro, Techno and beyond.

He wandered between the people and the places, the faces and the strangers, the dancers and the wanderers lost within the midst of the night. For they too had lost their grip. We all had really, the world was a big buttery pool within which we all swam beneath the cloak of darkness.

Dark Entries celebrates its 15th anniversary by returning to where it all started, our initial darkest entry: Eleven Pond’s masterpiece Bas Relief, an ultra-obscure album from 1986 that would become a definitive dark pop holy grail. Eleven Pond was James Tabbi (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jeff Gallea (drum machine, synthesizer, vocals), Jack Schaeffer (guitar) and Dan Brumley (synthesizer, samples, vocoder, melodica). They met in Rochester, NY, while attending art school, brought together by their shared love of 4AD and Factory Records. Taking cues from acts like Joy Division, Fad Gadget, and For Against, Eleven Pond’s infectious basslines, churning guitar riffs, and atmospheric synths will charm all fans of moody music. But what really makes Bas Relief shine is the timeless songwriting on classics like “Tear and Cinnamon”, “Portugal”, and the anthemic “Watching Trees.”
With only 500 copies in it’s initial release, Bas Relief resurfaces with a fresh remaster that corrects a pitch shift from previous reissues. Each copy is housed in a screen printed jacket, like the 1986 edition, and includes a lyric sheet, two postcards and a bookmark. Bas Relief is a true lost relic of the cold 80’s and an essential piece Dark Entries history.
