French Décalé records launching new sub-label Feng Shit Records. 
Born from eponymous LYL’s radioshow, this new imprint will highlight electronic and experimental music from contemporary artists. (Vs Décalé that focuses only on reissues). 
The launching release is a 14-track compilation on tape called "Castalia Drops". We took our project inspiration into Greek mythology: the water fountain of Castalia, frequented by the oracle Pythia of Delphi, were capable of inspiring poetic creation to those who drink its water or listen to its murmur.
In that context, Castalia Drops delivers a futuristic testament of club no-club music rooted in melancholia. A prediction of fourteen titles by warned visionaries (Epsilove, Christian Coiffure), freshly illuminated (OKO DJ, Dhakira, Explorations Silencieuses) from France, Switzerland and the super talented Israeli Tai Rona. It’s an ode to destiny oscillating from softening aural breezes (Eiger Drums Propaganda, Aloe, AM Khamsaa) to psychedelics rituals (Gavr, One Foot Step & Nitrate) and spiritual dance substrates (808Hz, Yolek, Antoine). 
The 4-sided insert contains also inspirational texts and poems provided by the artists themselves in their languages of preference like Romanche and Hungarian. 
The curation of the compilation has been done by Orsett & Fischer from Décalé, the mastering by Louis de La Gorce (from the Pilotwings) and the graphic design by the Swiss Martin Cramatte.

PREMIERE | 808Hz - Djinn [Feng Shit Records] 2021

Zauberstab Volume 1 is a compilation of electronic bedroom music made by contemporary artists that belong to similar sonic spheres, to be released in LIO Press, a new label based in Barcelona founded by Alicia Carrera. The A side feels like a holiday in an exotic landscape; the kind of place you don't want to leave. The B side then goes in a slightly deeper meditative direction, but not too far, since the sparking disco-infused psych exploration of 'Space Surfari' will hold you back from falling into the void of the unconscious. What comes next is the sound that would welcome a moonlit night sky. The C side slinks into a minimal synth oriented exploration, ending with the intergalactic hopeful drift of 'Har'. The last side will provide a comfortable seat on this hypnotic journey. 'Ete 2017' is an ode to the late summer nights, a mind-driving loop carried by gentle percussive sounds, filled with some bass deepness. The next tracks are the the right balance between a hug and a breeze of fresh air for your mind and soul. At this point you might find yourself wondering if it's a good idea to open your eyes or just keep them closed for a bit longer and thoroughly enjoy all of the details of this story. But, why not? This one is, after all, a record to build beautiful memories with.

Feral Colony is a new imprint dedicated to direct improvised approaches and spontaneity using minimal equipment. The first release is from Chris Mitchell, known for his work on Vanguard Sound, Anunnaki Cartel, Sistrum, Frigio, and Sons of Traders. Here Chris delivers an EP of thick drums with saturated tones and samples. On "Triumph" Chris weaves Afro-Caribbean chants with a growling bassline and synth. Heavy drums and intricate rhythms bring it all together for a slow-tempo stomper.

The fifth opus of the Worst Records library could appear as an audiobook for transcendental meditations. If the idea of trance-induced state is no surprise in the music we deliver to the world, this new album by Ricco goes beyond. The pair formed by Gil.Barte, head of Kump Records, and HLM38, in charge of house Notte Brigante, dare to offer a sinuous collection of mantras melted in light, silver dust and darkness. Each track navigates through ritualistic slow beats, drum'n'bass-ish half tempo incantations and other mystic hybrid forms not so far from Kode 9esque or Shakletonists reminiscences, just to name a few. The titles evoke a spiritual diagonal, from biblical to islamic worlds and arcanes, passing through persian tradition and obscure references hard to decipher. Several interludes, leading to the final Prelude, stand as resting rooms to drown the listener into purifying dark-ambient, where glitches of enlightenment and distants sounds from nature slowly disappear in divine drones. You now hold in your hands a keyholder to somewhere else, a sonic ally through everyday chaos, and spells to protect the soul.

When Laura (Ondula) makes jokes out of my kind of extravagant elegance, or about her elaborated saturday-night hair-style, she says that’s “macadam mambo”! When I first listened to her saying this I found it very appropriate.

Sacha Mambo, the man who together with Guillaume des Bois, started the notorious label Macadam Mambo, has been one of Diapason highlights. During the past years Sacha and me were part of the same international underground party scene and ended up putting out a couple of my most known releases, which preluded to the most recent EP “That’s when the Animals turned into humans” made with Laura under the name As Longitude and featuring Twoonky and Paul Arambula. If I remember well, Laura, Sacha and me made the agreement exactly in mid July 2018, in Berlin, just before the night at Sameheads began.

The recent lockdown forced Sameheads to cancel our latest two episodes. Shifting to this hidden virtuality, we want to keep the tradition alive and have reached out to some of our past guests and assembled a Diapason Compilation Tape Vol. 1 featuring new music from some of the artists who inspired us.

Psyclones: Tape Music 1980 – 1984
 
Since the early 1980s the Eureka, California based duo Psyclones freak out in music. As one of the most long-standing DIY duos, Brian Ladd and Julie Frith created a body of work, that flirts with Ambient, experimental industrial sounds, New Wave, Post-Punk, Synth-Pop, and all that electric jazz. Besides a few hard-to-find vinyl releases, they published their music regularly via cassette tapes on labels like their own imprint Ladd-Frith or other famed 1980's underground tape labels like Cause And Effect from Indianapolis, legendary San Francisco based Subterranean Records, Sound of Pig from New York, Insane Music from Belgium or the Spanish label Auxilio De Cientos to name but a few.
 
Now, Notte Brigante is dropping “Tape Music 1980 – 1984” – a detailed compiled sampler on Psyclones early output, that was scattered over diverse tape releases. A nine tracks long trip into the work of a highly underrated band, that never lost their drive to explore new avenues in sound. “Tape Music 1980 – 1984” displays their artistic impulse with a strong, minimal leaning post-punk feeling, spreading the early magic of a once new genre, that liberated rock music briefly from its bombastic male driven professionalism. Psyclones liberated large, while adding the repetitive patterns of drum machines, witchy female singing, cool male chanting, Tuxedomoon-ish weirdness, darkish synth sounds and dubby big city Angst to their cocktail of music. All balancing between icy wave coolness and nonchalant neon funk. Insane Music for sane people, smokers, rain lovers, midnight movers and all those cats, that can’t cope with the pre-written consumer life reality. If you chose to eat “Tape Music 1980 – 1984”, make sure to wear shoulder pads, bring an ashtray and turn your inner fog machine on.
