‘Desired Array’ by Mythopoet epitomizes the experimental nature of this compilation. It is a tune that traverses techno and IDM with a beautiful soundscape and fat squelchy bass that hits the spot perfectly. The drums sound unpredictable and anxious like drowning in some kind of edge. The overall result is a dreamy and mystical creation that calls for a journey inward, putting you in a state of contemplation.

We are beyond excited to announce our latest guest to the Symposium Records Mix Series.  Please welcome - Blume!!  

Blume has been very influential in what we play and program at Symposium Records.  She goes well beyond the surface and seeks out and plays - not only forward thinking tracks but also tracks that are timeless!

This mix has a hefty dose of introspective tunes and are quite focused on sound design.  Originating from a  similar selection she played at tresor a few weeks back.

Blume, hailing from the vibrant tapestry of Buenos Aires's electronic underground music scene, now finds herself a part of mainland Europe. Following five initial years in Amsterdam, living as a co-habitant of De School, she ultimately settled in the pulsating heart of artistic expression: Berlin.

Establishing her online record store Format Wars - @formatwars.records - in 2019, hosting and curating associated pop-up events, she is a DJ whose club-centric sound moves inwards from the peripheries of dance music. With sets, unlimited and freeform, finding inspiration through sonic qualities she treasures, Blume embraces a broad dynamic that’s both heavy in bass and energetic as it is ghostly, glitchy and atmospheric. 

Adding drums, broken beats and jungle influences to a sound that can equally fall away into life-affirming, dreamy ambient, Blume’s sets are an adventurous exploration of tempo and texture. No stranger to clubs like OHM & Tresor in Berlin, to events like co:clear in Glasgow, ADE in Amsterdam or Saint-Étienne’s esteemed Positive Education festival, primetime Blume can also be found online for NTS, HÖR and Rinse FM (UK) to the bi-monthly radio show she hosts on Noods called The Otherness - noodsradio.com/residents/the-otherness-w-blume

Assuming the role of a fully independent DJ, freelance art director, and record shop proprietor, Blume is first and foremost a student of sound. And as Format Wars makes inroads to becoming a physical location in 2024, she is dedicating her studies and research further afield to emerging AI technologies, generative tools and new production techniques. 

With Blume’s stylistic approach, intrepid sound and quality aesthetic already allied with an international repute of labels, domestic crews and local radio, it’s clear the artist’s creative expression, entrepreneurial instinct and synergism are poised for the future ahead.

Symposium Records with Blume - 12 February 2024

John Talaga has been recording and releasing under the name of Fashion Flesh for years. Past recordings have found their way on labels like Sons Of Traders, Black Lodge, Dead Channel, Unknown Precept, Est 83(Fit Sound) and Jacktone to just name a few. 
The direction is wherever the mind takes you. This particular mix was recorded straight to cassette with selections plucked from dusty vinyl.

The portal breaks.

A light.

A whirring sound.

Then the sky opens.

It's not an invasion, it's a cosmic manifestation.

SENEB is incarnated.

The people, the dominated, look up.

In the Zone, the memory of SENEB's world resurfaces: ancient tales, genealogy, SRION's sacrifice.

The plans are executed.

Joe €$£ discovers the human world.

He sees the confusion, the farce of appearances, the saturation.

People go around in circles in absurd cycles. The elites orchestrate everything, divide and conquer.

Humans think too much. But never think freely.

JOE is hacked by his own emotions. He glitches. He dreams too much. He feels too much.
