Following their debut compilation release in 2020 which raised money for Brixton Soup Kitchen, London-based label Twin System return with another glorious compilation. Set to be released in three parts, ‘Tendrils (i)’ is a 7-track projects which spans varying moods and styles, but come together as one to represent the first corner of the sonic world this tape series will describe: ‘Tendrils Lurched Purple In The Slush’. 

Out today via digital and cassette, ‘Tendrils (i)’, includes tracks from Cleyra, Lamina, Tofudj, gi, Teqmun, Notte Infinita and co-founder Lewi Boome who’s track we’re premiering on the site today. ‘Softbody’ is a slow-motion chugger that sounds like a robot creeping back to life with soft bubbling synths conversing in the background. An otherworldly being.

XTCLVR, the brainchild of Ukrainian sound artist and audio producer Artem Diachenko from Buchan near Kyiv, is set to release a new album titled 'INVERSE' on Standard Deviation. XTCLVR cinematic soundscapes have been featured in Standard Deviation’s audiovisual project 'Ridne' showcased at the CTM Festival in Berlin, ICA London and La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris. Known for his deep involvement in Kyiv's underground music scene, Artem is also a key member of the Pep Gaffe and Ejekt collectives, representing a fresh wave of Ukrainian independent artists dedicated to alternative and experimental sounds.

XTCLVR's music is characterized by deep, enveloping ambient passages and sharp synthesizer elements that often transform into hip-hop and dub bass lines. The name XTCLVR (ecstasy lover), created in 2019, humorously echoes with the techno culture.

'INVERSE' unveils a different facet of XTCLVR’s sound, with heavier and more aggressive tones. The traditional genres dissolve, and a grotesque tone draws the listener into a surreal, chimeric journeyThe album blends rich synthesizers and post-club polyrhythms with euphoric, upbeat elements, maintaining his distinctive style. Written throughout 2022-2023, the tracks on 'INVERSE' reflect a time of emotional instability and a dream-like state: is this all for real? The music features liquid sonic textures that escalate into distorted synths, fractured noisescapes, and eerie melodies. A standout track, 'FEEL ME', poses a bold inner dialogue, questioning reality itself.

'INVERSE' will be released on Standard Deviation on the 12th of July 2024.

Undivided, unified, the overwhelming sense of oneness. Feeling and experiencing this was her strongest desire since the departure, a deep longing.
