Broken beat pioneer, Afronaut, returns in full force for Brighton's long established purveyors of fine sounds, Tru Thoughts, with a lesson in dancefloor rocking production.

Afronaut, aka Orin Walters,  founding member of both the bruk supergroup Bugz in the Attic and the pioneering trio Neon Phusion, makes his debut on Tru Thoughts with club-stomper “How It Goes”. 

Following on from his collaboration with mentee and “honorary Bug" WheelUP on the summer-groove “Good Love”, “How It Goes” is the start of a partnership between the bruk legend and Tru Thoughts, a label whose output has been known for championing the West London Sound.

Tru Thoughts honcho had this to say about working with Orin: “I have always been a big fan of Afronaut and many of his songs have been anthems at my club residencies in Brighton. Orin has been mentoring WheelUP so to connect through that album has led to Tru Thoughts now working with him on some forthcoming releases which are sounding amazing. Orin is still pushing musical boundaries and this track is just the start.”

"How It Goes" by Afronaut is out this week. We can't wait to hear what's the next, but we'll certainly be rocking this in the meantime.

Pre-pandemic, Boogie Cafe released a compilation of various emerging artists from Bologna titled 'Bologna On The Move'. This time the focus is on a new wave of amazingly talented producers coming through from Rotterdam NL. The compilation 'Rotterdam On The Move' which Arrhytmia is taken from, is dedicated to the more soulful, jazz influenced sound emerging from the city, in contrast to the city's reputation for Techno, Electro and the harder edge of dance culture.

The 6 track compilation features music from OG Wang, Chezz, Dikkens,  Kofi The Unknown, Beau Zwart & Sykes and will be dropping early September on Boggie Cafe Records.

Little do we know about Moondance, in fact when these tracks just showed up in the inbox one day, we said ”Moon who?

All we got was a link to a dropbox folder with tracks signed Moondance. One thing is for sure though, the music we got sent speaks volumes and that is why we didn’t hesitate twice when we decided to sign all of them. First up is "Never Found Love".  

Never Found Love comes in two different shapes. While the original is a colourful, rich, and jazzy piano driven house track with a vocal to tie it all together.

At MIMS we are big fans of SofaTalk & XL Regular so it's an absolute pleasure to premiere this incredible broken beat meets 2-step garage remix for a relatively new artist - Donnie Moustaki - and label, Sengiley Recordings, launched in Russia by Denis Kazakov.

SofaTalk & XL Regular's remix is a more upbeat, garage tinged take on the original, a solid bumping house number. With samples, synths, keys and a beat that screams “get up and dance!”, this makes the perfect closer to an essential vinyl and digital release.
