This record is inspired by one of the most representative clubs of the Italian Cosmic movement of the 80s.

Rimini, 1981. Melody Mecca opens its doors and Dj Pery is the first resident, he spontaneously makes the club unique, through his personal choice of music, mostly relying on Afro and World sounds, rather than the disco-funk groove, filling Italian dancefloors in the early 80s.

Dj Meo, author of the outstanding Fine Corsa reissued in 2018, joins the booth in 1983 and the two create a magic flow, that resonates with the Cosmic scene. On the floor peace reigns and there is no need for security.

Aficionados coming from every part of Italy are like pilgrims gathering to the long stairway and yellow roof tarps of “La Mecca”.

The venue is huge, every night the musical path provides an educating experience bringing down the boundaries of mixing, dancers go crazy for mixtapes, hundreds are recorded after the parties and played on car systems, to the extent that who’s bounced is having a party in the parking of the club.

Stump Valley roots lie in the collection of records inherited from Dj Peppe, who inspired our Magica Movida. This is the second chapter of our tribute to that era, even if it won't be possible to recreate the same atmosphere of those magical nights today, till we will have stories like to one of Meo, the legacy of Melodj Mecca will still alive.

The 4th LP to be released on the Bristol-based label Banoffee Pies Records @banoffee-pies comes in the form of a debut album from Freerotation's Tom Ellis, under a new live ensemble  named Soulstatejazz. 

In Welsh folk law it was said "Annwn" [an:un] - "The Otherwold", was a world of delights and beauty located on an island or beneath the earth. A place of eternal youth and good, where food and fair health remained ever abundant as the wage of death and disease fell to it's way side. Commonly identifying in Welsh mythology as an afterlife of paradise.

The release titled "Annwn", is the result of a 3-day improvisation at Malt Barn studio, in Wales, forming a 6 track album of hybrid live/electronic jazz-house. The group, who first performed at Freerotation Festival as a morning journey, soon evolved into a flowing ensemble of musicians brought together by one of the core residents at the festival. With Tom Ellis (Bass, Drums, Percussion & Production), Mark Hand (Fender Rhodes & Moog), Michiel Renger (Tenor Sax) and Dave Elson (homemade Reaktor & Ableton instruments & FX) as the main backline of the band, the LP also features artists and residents connected to Freerotation and Malt Barn studio.

Here we are presenting you the second track from the album, called "Rebels On The Way", a beautiful piece of modern jazz with Fender Rhodes notes, saxophone improvisation by musician Michiel Renger, funky guitar riffs by Chris Gibson, all led by a dynamic house rhythm.

Nebraska’s ninth release on his Friends & Relations label presents further explorations of his ‘old records spun in new directions’ ethos. Opener ‘Deep Tune’ places a classic Memphis soul-man monologue in a new, resonant, percussively hypnotic setting. ‘Drum Track 01’ is spacious dub workout, all bass, drum and atmospherics. Side B brings us ‘Shift’; tranced-out 80s soul examined in microscopic detail. ‘Drum Track 02’ is a reframing of a crackly, wild percussion workout with dive-bombing bass drops. 

As per previous F&R releases, this is limited to 300 copies on vinyl and is available from 20th July.
