Lost Tribe Sound presents The Phonometrician’s, ’El Mar Convertido en Oceano,’ an EP of minimal yet highly expressive songs focused on the acoustic guitar. Many who enjoyed the brighter side of Carlos Morales (aka The Phonometrician) 2019 debut album ‘Mnemosyne’ will find a lot to love with ‘El Mar Convertido en Oceano.’

While LTS tends to stay rooted in sounds more apt for the fall and winter climates, after a long year and half we welcomed the chance to release something a bit more uplifting, at ease, even summery if you will. Morales leans into the oceanic, cyclical nature of these pieces, allowing the fingerpicked melodies to convey transformation through a smooth continuous flow. It’s a metamorphosis that can feel quite calm on the surface, knowing full well that stronger, more aggressive undercurrents may lie below.

’El Mar Convertido en Oceano’ serves as a warm reminder of the emotion Morales is capable of with very few instruments at play. It also provides an adapted glimpse at some of the many works for film he has composed over the last few years. The EP also makes us eager for things to come from The Phonometrician, as Morales has hinted that new full-length material is taking shape.

The album takes the listener on an acoustic experience with electronica, percussion and acoustic string instruments. Throughout the handpan creates a dreamlike state.

In ‘Nine To Seven’, the vocal and guitar melodies glide carelessly through time and space. Not to mention the intense but at the same time reliving ‘Ocean Raga’.

Once again Nordsø & Theill delivers a unique interplay on a high level artistically and technically.

Nordsø & Theill - Gravity & Beyond (Full Album) - 0213

The guest in this Electronic Beats Podcast is Hania Rani, an award-winning pianist, composer and singer hailing from Gdansk in Poland. 
Hania was initially inspired to study classical music and was later introduced to jazz and electronics at music school, widening her interests and as she puts it, “mixing Chopin & Schostakovitch with Dave Brubeck and Moderat”. Other inspirations include composers such as Max Richter, Esbjorn Svensson, Miles Davis, Nils Frahm, Murcof, Portico Quartet, Radiohead and even The Beatles. But Rani’s inspirations aren’t just musical, she has drawn inspiration from places she has lived and visited. 
Over the past few years Rani’s music has gained widespread recognition, earning many acclamations such as the Sanki Award as the “New Face of Polish Music” and Transatlantyk Golden Ark Award for “Best Young Polish Composer” amongst others. Recent years have seen Hiani scoring soundtracks for several movies, collaborating with the likes of Portico Quartet and Christian Löffler and performing live shows for ARTE and Cercle, her unfaltering drive has made Rani one of the most intriguing artists in the contemporary classical world.

With this remix I chose to get an emotional and romantic feeling out of the synths of the original Max cooper's track. I played with the harmonies to find a melancholic vibe and asked my cellist to play these beautiful pads to extend the chords.

I also wanted to show this profound introspective state that I love to experience sometimes and I wanted the big dynamics to picture what's happening in my head, profound bass for power and lights all around to pictures my thoughts flying.

I chose to put only one little sound of modular synth (with the Pads)and for the rest I wanted to play with the stems a lot : re-arrange them and try to find background sounds in the original track to put them in front.
