It is with a feverish excitement that we can finally announce the next EP in our catalog from our newest addition to the Second State family: Amelie Lens. Besides being quite a multi-talented virtuoso, the Belgian artist comes in hot and heavy for her debut release ‘Let It Go’ and with it showcases her prowess for dark, cutting-edge techno. Over the span of four tracks Lens takes us on a tour-de-force journey into the cerebral spaces of large, dark rooms and flashing strobe lights. Kicking things off is the hypnotically inducing 'Wild' with looping vocals laid over an ever increasing pressure of percussion and white noise. Much like the EP opener, 'Linger On' casts the same spell yet picks up the pace with racing snares and meteoric synth washes creating a deeply euphoric ride. The title track ’Let It Go' is up next and is by far the most 'cheeky' tune of the EP with a twisted acid line swirling around the constant begging of Lens’ voice encouraging you to "Let It Go, Let It Out". Rounding out the EP is 'The Finest Hour' and Lens wraps up her debut with the most psychedelic cut of the package. Low rumbling bass tones and spaced out pads over sparse drums leave lots of room for the imagination providing each listener to create their own journey to navigate. If this is Amelie Lens' debut with us, we expect a lot of very big things to come from the young Belgian and so should you. Welcome Amelie Lens!

Koen made this track during a 3 hour flight this Summer and did the final mixing and stuff as soon as he got home from the airport.
Big and dark thumping beats, atmospheric sound effects and a breakdown with a boiling synth and bass hook, these are the components of 'Roselawn', a gem produced to lit up dancefloors.

Kevin De Vries delivers big room drama on his ‘Aratak’ EP for Afterlife Recordings. 

Spirited synth lines, drum rolls, gripping moments of silence and weighty kick drums make the title track of De Vries’ Afterlife debut formidable club gear. ‘Sciamachy’ is more subtle, centred around a euphoric arpeggio which spirals to its apex. Konstantin Sibold contributes a fine remix, toning down certain elements of ‘Sciamachy’ to let others shine. Coming back to the Upon.You Records camp with his second EP is T Raum, the Vienna-based producer who brought us the „Daywalker EP" in May of 2k18. Now, teaming up with fellow artist Johan Mila for „The Strange" the Austrian producer is back with more dancefloor-focused goodness, bringing us our first release of the still new, fresh and young year 2019.

Opening with „Hot Rod" the two artists immediately prove that they are a studio force to be reckoned with, weighing in pumping, crafty next level TechHouse with a storming, quite muscular peaktime touch, huge breakdowns and a powerful, ever spiralling synth motif made to take punters to a trance-inducing rave heaven within seconds.

The title track „The Strange *Vocal Mix" brings on another dancefloor weapon created by T Raum & Johan Mila, focusing on distinct, perfectly shaped TechHouse drums, warm, floating DubTechno-influenced pads, clever percussion arrangements and beautiful, out of this world vocals coming down to the dancefloor from electronic music heavens.

On the next tip we see T Raum & Johan Mila presenting their track „Melodrama", a stripped down, yet upliftng affair exploring the borderline between TechHouse and (Neo)Trance for rolling late night / early morning dancefloor workouts, weighing in widescreen panorama breakdowns and touching atmospheres for humungous crowds and beauteous sunrise experiences.

Finally „The Strange *Dub Mix" rolls out another angle on the title track, putting an emphasis on its distinct DubTechno chords and beautiful melody whilst stripping the original cut off the vocals to allow variation for those DJ's who like to go deeper throughout their sets.

30 minute extract from the last in the current series of my dRUMMAN shows. Original perfomance length 58 minutes.
equipment:
tr909, tr808, tr707, mfb512, mpc2000, tb303, system100m, dx100, custom modular rig, analogue solutions & doepfer analogue step sequencers + mixer & fx.

NOTE that the gig was 100% improvised. previously i've had some sampled chords/pads on the mpc but now the zip drive refused to work, so an hour before the doors opened i plugged a mobilephone with spotify on the mpc and took a random jazzsample and looped it, the one you hear in the first part, tuned the synths to the sample, and programmed the 303line to it.
