Celebrating 10 years of existence with a statement, Berlin’s GEGEN is releasing a solid 3-part compilation, grounding their work of the past decade into the newly founded label’s sonic aesthetic by showcasing the artists that have been at the heart of the infamous party series. This VA is a bundle of 30 tracks hailing from the true ride-or-die residents at the core of the project to the headliners whose support have propelled the collective from day one as well as up-and-coming artists that Gegen takes to heart to support.

The Nursery’s seventh release sees another newcomer: it’s Violent. A truly promising DJ and producer from Poland, rapidly making a name for himself as a pusher of rough, breakbeat induced techno. Stressful Environment contributes to that persona. It is a fierce composition of peak time tracks, that at times hint towards industrial, while preserving a certain melancholy. It is largely this combination that makes these tracks complement each other so well. The muscular foundation gives them their power; an enlightening fragility keeps them from becoming mere stompers. With that, Violent has put together an impressive piece of contemporary techno that will most likely see the inside of many clubs in the months to come. The ‘Stressful Environment EP’ is bound to make the name Violent stick around for a while.

Charles Fenckler delivers the first single to be taken from his debut album Diving From The Void, the furious Stellar Acid, backed by a formidable remix from fellow countryman, Francois X. 

Classic rave vibes are the order of the day on Fenckler’s original track as the notorious sound of the 303 wreaks havoc, peaking and resonating intensely as straight up percussion and ominous pads provide the backbone to this dance floor burner. Concrete resident and D3MENTED label boss Francois X steps up with a very clever remix which utilises small elements from the acid line and pads to create and entirely new monster complete with it’s own pumped up drum workout.

After contributing to the label with a remix on the 10th release, SDB is back with an EP on Märked, featuring three originals and two remixes by AERT and Repro. The closing track of this EP is called 'Symphony' for a reason. Starting off peacefully, the break evolves slowly into a trance-like anthem before it creates a drastic shift into no-nonsense straight-forward techno.

Paris-based DJ & producer AIROD aka Dario Brkic returns to Amelie Lens’ Lenske for his second 12” on the Belgian label, ‘Rave Cycle’. Previous solo EPs on Molekul, on his Elixyr and the acclaimed ‘Voltage’ EP on Lenske earlier this year have brought him to play at some of the most emblematic clubs of the international circuit and become part of the Exhale showcases. Ellen Allien - one of Berlin’s most ardent techno ambassadors - proudly unveils her latest full-length expedition into the realms of underground electronica. Brimming with creative energy, Ellen’s new LP AURAA follows her 2019 release Alientronic, and is her third album in three years. Raw, emotive and capable of transporting you from reality to an electrofied fantasy, AURAA explores the notion of unseen energies controlling our planet.

Beginning with the faintest hint of trance euphoria on the downtempo ‘Hello Planet Earth (Breath Mix)’, the album soon moves into more bumpin’ territory with ‘In Music I Trust’ - Ellen’s signature use of vocals-as-melody entrancing the listener. ‘Walking In The Dark’ takes things up a notch further with jabbing percussion and mesmerising atmospherics, followed by ‘Confusion’, a masterclass in heady hypnotic composition. ‘Human’ is a deeply affecting beatless segue with its drone-esque soundscape. ‘True Romantics’ taps into your emotional centre utilising hard beats and wistful synth lines. Lastly, ‘Traum’ (Dream in English) takes us out of our bodies and into the infinite realm of vibration, as waves of beautifully composed pads and bubbling analogue bass encourage us to transcend into the next astral plane.
