AurAA was the techno queen’s ninth album in as many years, as she continues to channel her creative energy into full-length releases, as well as various other projects. Staying active and positive through the difficulties of the past year, Ellen has maintained a constant presence, sharing live DJ sets from her balcony, or astonishing settings around Berlin, and a continuous flow of new music, supporting artists through her labels and keeping the spirit of our culture alive.

After setting the tone with two originals and one remix with us back in 2020, Berlin-based producer Fabian Krooss returns this year with his debut solo sortie, 'Planet D'. A nod to the ecological nonsense that envisages salute in departing our beloved 'Planet A' for other celestial bodies to tear down - such as a fictional 'Planet D', the EP runs the gamut from minimalistic club grooves to blissed-out tropical chuggers, via further atmospheric excursions.

Whilst 'Time To Act' serves up a dynamic symphony of FX-laden elements joining forces to fight off anxiety for our future, Theo Meier’s revamp takes the track into further functional club territory with clinical poise. The even lusher 'Night Owl' reels out as an ode to nature and its healing powers, bringing forth a vibrant mix of bassy power and refined, balearic-informed ambient scapes, whereas Midas 104’s version injects just the right amount of bounce and jazz into its hypnotic folds. 
'Watatata', a collaboration with Jacob Stille, smoothly takes you on the other side with an innovative and playful touch and 'Twisted Mind' simply rounds it all up with an intergalactic bang.

Channeling earthly energies with a strongly poetic power of evocation, 'Planet D' is an invitation to refocus, carried by the hope of fuelling a new, sustainable vision for tomorrow.

An exclusive track taken and reshaped from his #GU43 Rotterdam Mix album, Psyche is six superbly stylish minutes of slow burning, sophisticated and atmospheric techno. The kick drums are perfectly taught and tight, and the melodic phrase up top builds and builds until you're utterly hypnotised, then out of nowhere, a vast, dark, monstrous riff comes into blow the floor wide open and more heavenly pads rise up through the mix.

Klangkuenstler first made his debut on our SUM 5 VA with his massive track ‘Continuum’ and now returns for his first solo outing on Second State with two absolute bombs primed for decimating any dance floor they encounter.

‘Razor’ kicks off the EP in a concept where fierce, rapid drums and 90’s inspired leads result in a nostalgic yet modern twist to a timeless idea. The title track ‘Dunkle Illusion’ initiates the B-side by utilizing an ominous acid line with sinister intent slithers between racing percussion creating an undeniably wicked atmosphere. Wrapping up the short player is Alignment’s remix of ‘Dunkle Illusion’ which sees the original reworked into a powerful display of devilish melodics while never losing the intensity and force of the original’s character. This EP perfectly blends Techno with Rave sounds, and there is no better way to welcome Klangkuenstler to the Second State family.
