Songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, retired teacher, baseball fan and history buff. Ellen is a self-taught musician who taught herself to play guitar at age 11. Over the years, she taught herself to play bass, mandolin, harmonica, piano, wooden flutes, ukulele, drums and percussion. In addition, Ellen learned sound engineering and applied that knowledge to recording technology. She spends much of her time in her own project studio recording her compositions.
 Although she considers herself a composer, she does make appearances at coffeehouses, showcases and concert settings. Her main goal is to promote her songs and encourage other singers and musicians to record and perform those compositions.

She was caller 11 on Detroit's hit radio station WDRQ with legendary disc jockey China Jones. At the station on 8 Mile Road in Detroit, the closet doors opened and her 11 year old arms were loaded up with the entire Beatles discography. Back at home, Mary dropped the needle on side one of Revolver on her blue Panasonic record player and at that the moment she was hooked. Growing up in 70's Detroit and learning from the radio jocks of America's first underground radio stations was all it took for Mary to pick up the guitar and learn her first Beatles, Neil Young, Eagles and Led Zeppelin tunes. Once she started, her appetite for acoustic rock guitar was fueled.

Michigan based acoustic Americana singer-songwriter Stuart Benbow writes and performs music on a diverse pool of topics, from heartfelt emotion laden ballads to laid back music with some drive, to geeky music about things like Doctor Who and Firefly.

The tracks found here are demo versions and scratch tracks produced shortly after songs have been written, rather than album-ready pieces, so the quality will vary from very rough guitar/vocal tracks with an abundance of errors to fully developed instrumentation that just needs some polish and a good mix/master.
