w/ a graceless gaze, and a dollar bill adorned
  he kept his eyes to the west,
     she kept his cold heart warmed
in a sudden flash, the weather had changed
  the air was foul...as the words exchanged.

he tried to run, because there was nowhere left to hide,
   he thought he had found a friend, but they only robbed him blind again
w/ a coin in hand..a caring voice like a compass rose
  he kept her pictures safe and juxtaposed

in the strangest way, it still feels close to home
  praise the only pride and joy...he has ever known
he tried to settle down, when his meddle was still strong and true
           a sip of whiskey hits the floor,
                     while her flower petals start to fall...
