Shambhala sets are ephemeral and fleeting but I like to try and upload them here so everyone can get a taste of  SMF Sunday morning at 7am in the LIVING ROOM. Most people have gone to sleep and the few stragglers that show up have either partied all night, or slept all night by accident and woken up dazed. I have a few die hard allies who make a point of attending these special times, and to them i give a true nod of deep appreciation. They get it. This is music to wind down to. It's music to drift to, to greet the sun, to stretch into a new day with endless possibility. I love making these mixes. 

As usual there's a multitude to thank but foremost, these mixes would not be possible without the relentless sifting done by Delvin Solkinson, whose appreciation for the chill beats is unmatched.  Sara and HOOLA, the stage directors of the LIVING ROOM have believed in me from day one and i love them to the end of time for giving me the chance to play each year, and doing all they do for the music community. As always the mix is mastered by Akhentek in the brand new ilum studios in the majestic rainforest of west coast BC. Big ups to Frogacudda for the controller. A special shoutout to Emma star, who is always front and center for my SMF set and stays to the end. She also snapped the picture on the cover. Don't want to forget DJ Ktel and Mostly Yoshi for being the sountechs who set me up and tear down long after they are ready for bed.

At The Perimeter: Shambhala LIVING ROOM 2022 DJ set

Reflections is a somewhat irregularly occurring dj series.

This was a night like no other!  This is the live recording from my warmup set for LadyK, the world’s first pole-dancing DJ.

The sold-out show also featured internationally renowned pole dancers, Femme Natale, and Stephanie Allester.

I remember making that journey to Costa Rica to perform at Envision an earlier year an it was filled with a real sense of adventure. This is a set I put together earlier this year which was meant to be played this summer at 230pm on the beach stage at The Pachena Bay Festival on Saturday. Due to what seemed to be an unfortunate surge from the generator, my USB hub got fried, and therefore I was unable to connect my laptop to my mixer. I was heartbroken. Thankfully I had some of the most important people in my life around me to keep me from a complete breakdown. 

After many attempts to get things to work, the decision was made to play on CDJs, through an external HD, which didn’t have the music for this set on it, so I had to quickly improvise. The set went well, people loved it, but I was left extremely frustrated and discouraged. 

In the 30 years I’ve been playing music, I’ve honestly never put so much time, effort and emotion into building a set as I have this one. After the unfortunate events, I vowed I’d never play this anywhere other than the setting is was meant for, but my amazing Estelle 💖 talked me into making this my first studio recording in almost 8 years, and I’m happy she did.
