We are excited to present the Taubira Remixes.
Two years ago we shared Dombrance's Taubira to celebrate the artist's debut show on American soil. That show was at the first of our legendary Bowery Ballroom parties in New York City.

We loved this track so much we persuaded the mighty Dombrance to let us compile a remix EP to give the track a new lease of life.

We have assembled a crack team of remixers - all of them frequent collaborators - dear to our hearts!

PRINS THOMAS / ICHISAN / JAMES ROD / JOSH LUDLOW

The package opens with the hypnotic, arpeggiated excellence of the original before handing the reins to the assembled remix team. The mixes are bookended by two adaptations from new kid on the block Josh Ludlow who opens things with a powerful club edit with a deep, heady feel and closes out with a pumping 80’s Italo rework. Between these two variations, we have the ‘Clan Disko Dub’ from respected Slovenian producer Ichisan who teams up with the Gouranga Clan to go down a percussive & acidic route. Alongside this, Spain’s James Rod turns in an extended and intense revision that takes things into tripped out, late-night territory.
At the centre of all this is the jewel in an already gleaming crown as Norwegian Cosmic God Prins Thomas takes the track down a psychedelic bass trip - stretched out over a blissful eleven minutes to create something truly timeless.

Desde el sur de España, Alvinas nos presenta Veneno, un proyecto fresco que ha sorprendido a la escena musical, organizado por su compañero Aleito. Tras escuchar la versión original del gran compositor Alvinas, Aleito quedó cautivado, lo que lo llevó a colaborar en este lanzamiento sublime.

El remix de James Rod añade un toque único a este tema, realzando la energía punk y funk del original con potentes líneas de bajo eléctrico y percusiones llenas de carácter. El toque flamenco-punk de las voces junto con la producción refinada de James Rod transporta al oyente a un paisaje sonoro cautivador, haciendo de este remix una verdadera joya para las pistas de baile.

Este lanzamiento no solo destaca por la calidad de producción de Alvinas en el estudio, sino también por la innovadora fusión de estilos que promete dejar huella en la escena underground.

Philosophy of Sound (P.O.S) is the brainchild of Martin K, a Polish-born, Australia-based producer known for his multidisciplinary approach to music and technology. As a music producer, academic, and live performer, Martin K’s work spans multiple projects, including P.O.S, KOshowKO, and the iubar project, each reflecting his commitment to creating thought-provoking, genre-blurring music. With releases on respected labels such as Discotexas, Emerald & Doreen, and, most recently, Golden Soul Records, as well as collaborations with artists like Chicks On Speed, Severed Heads, and B(if)tek, Martin has established himself as a dynamic presence in electronic music.

His acts have graced stages at festivals such as White Night, Electundra, and St Kilda Festival in Australia, along with a tour across Germany. His music has garnered global recognition, highlighted by “The Story”, a song that reached the finals of the International Songwriting Competition in 2009, alongside screenings of his music videos at various music and film festivals.

Philosophy of Sound initially gained traction through releases on Discotexas, where P.O.S’s signature blend of danceable beats and reflective lyrics garnered acclaim. Tracks like “Freedom, What For?” resonated deeply, spending four weeks in Beatport’s Top 30 and featuring an interactive music video lauded for its socially conscious messaging. In crafting P.O.S’s sound, Martin frequently collaborates with a range of musicians and vocalists, merging electronic production with live instrumentation.

After a hiatus, during which Martin completed a PhD focused on remote music collaboration and pursued several side projects, Philosophy of Sound is making a return in late 2024. Reinvigorated with new collaborators, including multi-instrumentalist Sebastian Barahona, and fresh material, this comeback begins with the release of “Moonlights” on Golden Soul Records. Complete with remixes by Pete Herbert and James Rod & Aleito, this new single marks an exciting chapter for Philosophy of Sound, combining a renewed artistic vision with P.O.S’s signature approach to music production.

For its eight instalment, and its first Various Artist, Finest Hour brings together old and new friends. Tolga Fidan and Voigtmann were in the plans since the label was created in late 2013, and it’s with great joy that we finally welcome their contribution to our series. 

A versatile EP that ranges from timeless house inspired by the deepness of the 90s to futuristic minimal cuts with a modular touch and a broken beat edge.
